The Lions are off to a fantastic start at 3-1 with its lone loss being to a ranked 1A team (Holy Cross) by a single point in the season opener on its brand new, 62-million dollar stadium. Since then, the Lions have roared including beating the pants off the defending 1A champions, Kentucky County Day, 34-7 in its second week. Well, Thursday night, the Lions won its first home game, beating Marion County 41-6 behind the strong play of its ’27 QB, Brian Dickerson, Jr. Can this team, which was practicing on asphalt parking lots and un-manicured fields really contend for a championship in its district and at the regional level under Coach George Durant, Jr.? They have the players, the athletes, the frames, and the facilities. Enjoy the article.

Not every 5’11,” 180 pound high school WR is the same. Some of them have a vertical of 37-inches, bench press 245, squat (lbs): 425, power cleans (lbs) 235, and are in the graduating class of 2028. Some of them are surnamed “Landis” and get to play high school football at one of Kentucky’s most prestigious programs for a coach bearing the same surname. Parker Landis is having a big year and is coming off a big win over cross town Male High (Lou.). He is our Big Ass Fans Kentucky Comfort Creator of the Week. Congratulations, and enjoy the article!

This usually is a pretty fun article. A few days ago we posted the “KPGFootball Scorecard.” On that document we memorialized the matchup and just who we believed would win and why. What we do in the scorecard is give you the solution. What we don’t do is demonstrate how we worked the problem. Thursdays, during the football season, we often publish an article which “shows our math.” If you read this article you will see why we picked the teams we picked to win and why we picked the teams we picked to lose. You may not agree and that is okay. We are wrong between 10-15% of the time. It makes for fine reading and generous discussion. Enjoy the article.

If you don’t know they play a little football in Bardstown, KY you have never read my book, “Kentucky’s All-Time HS FB Coaches and a Few More I Liked” nor have you heard of Garnis Martin. The Point is…they have been fielding quality football teams around Bardstown since they had a school named My Old Kentucky Home High. Bardstown is staring to look very formidable again this season as they have gotten off to a 3-0 start. The Tigers are being led by a combo RB,QB named Elijah Young and the 5’10, 190-pound sophomore is posting some all-time marks particularly passing the ball. Enjoy this look at a program flying under some radars but not for long!

Through the first two ’28 QB is strutting his stuff! Miles Hollon being a darn good QB is news to no-one. Hollon is ranked among the elite players at his position in his graduating class and that lofty opinion has existed in regard to Hollon since his leaving middle school […]

We are doing something a little different this year. We will highlight individual performances like last season but we also want to give fans a “scouting report” on some of the pivotal games. This week we look at the overall performance of the defense through the first two games. The team has played a 6A, talented roster in North Hardin, and a 5A finalist from a year ago in Pukaski County and has only surrendered 14-points all year long. As soon as we get the full thrust of the offense figured out and unpacked, this will make for one heck of a 2A ball club heading into the playoffs. Enjoy this look at the Eagle defense and “Go Eagles!”

Haden Wise brings something to the table programs desperately need, particularly programs competing at the 2A classification. Haden Wise has a very versatile skill set with a variety of talents which lend itself well to playing multiple sports. Wise was among the offensive leaders for the Falcons football team this past Friday night as he played QB out of necessity for his team in its first win of the season. Wise, who also plays baseball (3rd base and catcher) employs skills which lend naturally (and specifically) to playing football. Wise’s multi-faceted, athletic tool belt makes him more, not less, recruitable to colleges around the commonwealth. Enjoy this feature.

Today we decided to spotlight a freshman footballer who was a middle school star and who is looking to find the field under the “Friday Night Lights” sooner rather than later. This time, one of our most devoted sponsors, Big Ass Fans, decided it wanted in on the fun of looking at player whose tomorrows look brighter than their todays. We feature a freshman who is a two-way trenchman with a good frame and tremendous work ethic and length. He doesn’t pout. He doesn’t hang his head about where he is being slotted. He just does his job. Those are attributes which will make him a star in the game of football across our great commonwealth. Big Ass Fans out of Lexington, Kentucky is one of our most prized and beneficial relationships in the corporate world. This article is a regularly appearing, Friday serial similar to some of the sponsored content we have before published here. Big Ass Fans has committed itself to quality more than the mere size of its industrial sized fans. The product is backed by commitment to performance, reliability, and innovation which has been a driving force behind the company in the twenty or more years it has existed. Enjoy this feature.
