Preston Denton, ’31 BGJHS, setting southern Kentucky a blaze with his talent… @GrahamDenton14, @SOKYElite, @khsaafootball, @bigassfans, @eCampusdotcom, @KyHighFootball, @BGJHSFootball

’31 OL both skilled and accomplished

We wrote about his brother, Graham Denton, last year. Graham is a ’32, and Preston is a year ahead of him. Preston is an example of an Honors Student on the advanced track at Bowling Green Junior High who puts the student first in the student/athlete equation. Preston is 5’8,” 190-pounds (which is fine size at his stage of development) and he works, offseason, with the SOKY Elite outfit sharpening his skills and technique. The Dentons are an example of the superlative talent being harvested around the Bowling Green community. Maybe why area high schools enjoy such varsity football success. You think?

BGJHS has one of the better middle school programs in the KYMSFA

Bowling Green, KY: Preston Denton is a 3031 kid. The ’30s are entering the ninth grade and we are in the full throws of covering that class this summer.

The Dentons, SOKY football family

We have already written about Graham Denton, his brother. Graham is a ’32 prospect. Here is a link to his feature.

Preston Denton (hereafter just “Denton”) is worthy of our attention. Matter of fact, Denton enters eighth (8th) grade among the more celebrated and accomplished offensive linemen in southern Kentucky.

Denton is a 5’8,” 190-pounder who is known throughout southern Kentucky coaching circles as both an excellent technician and versatile player. Denton started at left guard for Bowling Green Junior High School (hereafter “BGJHS”) and stepped in to play both center and tackle when the need arose.

BGJHS made the KYMSFA Regional Championship game, falling just short of a semi-state berth. Denton started and played every offensive snap.

Both the Dentons, Graham and Preston, train together with Southern Kentucky Elite (SOKY). Graham being a DE and Preston an OL allows the brothers to sharpen their skills against the other.

Friday Night Fletch

Preston Denton has been with SOKY for several years. Denton has sharpened his technique under the tutelage of coaches Curtis Johnson and George Fant. Fant is a member of the Washington Commanders (NFL) roster playing OT.

That level of training, under coaches who have attained that level of expertise, is invaluable. It is one reason the Purples remain among the commonwealth’s more storied, traditional, and successful football programs in the KHSAA’s 5A classification.

Denton is also a fine student, something prospects cannot afford to overlook. Denton is on the advanced track (scholastically) at Bowling Green Junior High. Both of the Dentons put the student first in the student/athlete equation.

These are kids to monitor going forward. These are kids who are handling the parts of the equation under their control.

Both of the Dentons will develop as God intends. When the Denton-boys finally get to where they will ultimately finish physically; we will find two superlative players of the game with the frames to accomplish very special things. Won’t that be fun?
