Middle School Spotlight: @LucasTompkins5 from @NOMustangs take a bow! @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @1776Bank @KyHighFootball

One of our most important duties at KPGFootball is to keep abreast of the talent in the middle school ranks coming up each year to restock the cupboard from the talent lost to the graduation platform. Regardless of the “Mr. Footballs” lost to graduation each year there is always talent just as scintillating coming up from the middle school ranks.

It is an endless parade. It makes for an exciting and fun cover.

Luke Tompkins is an example of exactly what we are covering. Tompkins is a ’26 prospect who played RB and QB thus far in his playing career.

He was selected the KYMSFA ’21, Region 2, Player of the Year this past season. He was selected to the FBU select team and figures to be a strong candidate to represent Kentucky this summer in its annual battle against Tennessee in the Future Stars classic.

Luke is 5-9 and weighs 145-pounds with tons of growth potential left on his frame. He’s fairly chiseled up physically, though presently slight of build, which tells us he is willing to do the work offseason to further his physical development.

Luke is a kid we expect to play early in his high school career. Whether that career will be at RB or QB is yet to be determined but expect him to enter the lineup as a freshman over the course of his initial campaign before next Fall’s season strikes midnight.
