2027 OL/DL prospect is one heck of a fine player

Fletcher Long and Sam Harp talk, in their book Football 101: Boo-Boo’s a Quarterback, about the “Chapter 16” kid. The “Chapter 16” kid is the one who is made for the high school game and dominates on Friday Nights, whether or not he actually matriculates to the next level. Some of these guys are a step slow, an inch short, a few pounds light, etcetera, etcetera. However, none of that matters on Friday Night. What matters on Friday Nights, across Kentucky, is production and achieving great success for our home teams, home towns, local high schools, and our ever glorious alma maters. Football programs have been built on the backs of the “Kaden Bogars” of the world. That is why we are featuring him, right at the end of “Dead Period.” Down hill slide from here, folks; let the season commence.

HB Lyon, Scouting Director, “KPGFootball”

Belfry, KY: Kaden Bogar is a freaking Football Playing Jesse. I will never forget the first time I heard that particular term. Matter of fact, when I first heard it, the term was being used to describe a kid very similar to Bogar.

I talk with college coaches all the time. Several years ago, sometime between five years and a decade ago, I was talking to a small college coordinator who was discussing with me a target of his school’s football program who lived in my coverage area. This was an undersized guy on whom the school was completely sold and someone who they were recruiting very hard.

At the time, I was the managing editor of a small, weekly, mountain newspaper. I was still writing for KPGFootball but was mostly a scout and serving on the editorial board.

The coach told me about this kid, “This guy is a ‘Football Playing Jesse.'” I had to look it up as it was a term with which I was unfamiliar.

A “Jesse” is a term which has been around a while. Dating back to the early 1800s, someone’s being a Jesse meant that person vigorously pursued an activity, one about which he was fanatical.

A “Football Playing Jesse” is football player who vigorously pursues the game and is fanatical about it and committed to it.

It is complementary. It perfectly describes Kaden Bogar from Belfry.

Bogar is a 6’1,” 250-pound combo lineman who plays on both scrimmage lines. Bogar played at guard on offense and helped solidify a line behind which the 11-3 Pirates would rush for 3,503 yards and score 56-TDs.

Unlike some prior Pirate teams, this one threw the ball effectively and the linemen had to learn to “pass set” well. The ’24 version of Belfry passed for 1,540-yards while throwing another 17-TDs.

That is quite a bit of offensive production. Bogar played on the DL too. In fact, his next level future may be as a defensive lineman.

Bogar played in all 14-of Belfry’s games as only a sophomore. Bogar registered 53-tackles and a pair of QB-sacks.

Not all of Bogar’s measurements come up short of the D-1 standard. We don’t know that his frame has fully filled out either.

Bogar has a 9″ hand width and a 73″ wingspan. Bogar also has a 4.0 GPA which could be the best measurement of all.

What we can confidently say is the following: Bogar can play the game. Coaches and area players alike recognize him as a bone fide HS football star.

This kid clips off 40-yards in 4.9-seconds. Bogar has the agility, speed, and athleticism to slide out to tackle, for Belfry, and give them valuable reps on the edge like he does when posted along the interior.

Bogar has described himself aptly as a “fierce competitor.” That isn’t all he is…Bogar’s a “Football Playing Jesse” too.
