Bradley moves his seasonal rushing mark up to 1,407-yards in 195-carries with 25-rushing TDs

We often talk about three (3) phase contributors in the game of high school football. We don’t see them too much in 6A ball, especially not from seven-win, heading to the second round-type teams. James Bradley has proven this year that he is “…all that and a bag of chips.” Bradley has had a wonderful season and, Friday Night, he insured his team’s last EVER home game would not be the Tigers’s last game ever. Bradley and the Tigers advanced past the Panthers from Daviess County, 50-20, on the strength of the senior’s 223-rushing yards on 20-carries, five (5) of which went for TDs, and 36-scored points with three (3) registered tackles thrown in for good measure. Not too many players ever enjoy a game like we saw from Bradley this past weekend. Then again, not too many ever experience a year like Bradley as enjoyed either.

Friday Night Fletch

Hopkinsville, KY: There are players who are college prospects and there are players who are “Friday-Nighters.” Then, there are players who are both.

James Bradley, Jr. has had an incredible senior season. Matter of fact, whether or not it should be recognized as an “All-State” caliber season isn’t even a close call.

All-Staters make teams better for their having played. Bradley has the Tigers playing pretty close to optimally and wondering just how far the Tigers can take this final “Swan Song.”

Next up for “Hoptown” is a trip to South Warren to play a Spartan squad sporting a perfect record. South won its first game in these playoffs via forfeit.

These two teams played during the regular season, in Hopkinsville, and the Spartans came out on the good end of a 33-21 margin which was even closer than the final score would indicate. This time the Tigers will come in to Spartan-ville riding high off a 50-20 first round thrashing of Daviess County.

James Bradley, Jr.’s performance against the Panthers was scintillating. Against the Panthers, Bradley rushed for 223-yards on 20-carries with five (5) TDs; housed three (3), two (2)-pointers; scored 36 of the team’s 50-points; and registered 3-tackles.

Against Daviess County, Bradley rushed for 223-yards on 20-carries with five (5) TDs; housed three (3), two (2)-pointers; scored 36 of the team’s 50-points; and registered 3-tackles.

KHSAA Statistical Website

Believe it or not, these numbers are in line with what Bradley has done all year. Over the course of his senior year, Bradley has thrown for 133-yards and a pair of TDs; rushed for 1,407-yards and 25-TDs in only 195-carries; and has caught 19-passes for 398-yards and six (6) TDs.

In addition to all of that, Bradley has scored 20.2 points a game in 11-games (222-points). That is pretty impressive, one player accounting for over 20-points a game across an 11-game span.

Bradley has played quite a bit of defense too. Bradley has registered 41-tackles and housed a pick-six, covering 78-yards.

Maybe Bradley should take up punting and placekicking! We’re kidding. Bradley’s housed punt, housed kick-off, and nine (9) two-point conversions seems like sufficient contributions to the special teams units, would you not agree?

The Tigers have a tough trip ahead. Invading Bowling Green Kentucky to play a 6A title contender, if not one of the classification’s favorites, is far from a piece of cake.

No head football coach in this end of Kentucky gets his troops ready for battle any better than South Warren’s, Brandon Smith. We are sure being the son of Hall of Fame coach, Chuck Smith, doesn’t hurt.

However, if you’re going to have to go that route, one might as well take a Dude like Bradley along for the experience. It has always been our experience individual talents like James Bradley, Jr., can rise to the occasion when needed. Well sir, time to rise…

We can’t make it any simpler than that. We’ll see you at the game!
