Had an opportunity to speak with Ricco Hughes today who, incidentally, is celebrating his birthday and he told me 40 kids made the make-up tryout at Louisville Western this past Tuesday, April 18. Ricco is very excited about this years Tennessee-Kentucky Game as he feels Kentucky will boast plenty of talent for this year’s edition.
There were some notable players in the Commonwealth who failed to make it to Ballard on April 9, Lafayette on April 15, and missed the combine on April 18, 2017 at Louisville Western. Aaron Hash, The Kentucky Rifleman, failed to make a combine as did Reece Jesse and big Jordan Steele, who announced on Facebook he would play his High School ball at a private school in Georgia. Oh well, we here at Kentucky Prep Gridiron recognize you can’t get them all. What did appear appeared to this reporter to be big, athletic, powerful and explosive. Ricco reports there were some really fast 4.7 second range forties logged at the make-up workout at Western so this edition should easily rival Tennessee’s squad in the top-end speed department.
Since we are bringing up top 8th grade talent pledging their services to lucky High School programs, National POY William Long pledged his allegiance to the Tigers of HHS and Coach Clayton, The Silver Fox, next year. Not the same thing as Jordan Steele going out of state but an announcement worthy of mention, nonetheless. I am sure Clayton’s staff at HHS is excited to see where Long and the rest of the enormous talent from off HMS’ State Semi-final Team fits into the Future for the 4A power Tigers.
Be looking for more information to be released tomorrow as this reporter believes he may be getting some exclusive info from a confidential source about the status of Team Kentucky Future Stars and remember ballers…
