We don’t like the present RPI formula used by the KHSAA. Why? We believe the our of classification enhancement for playing up ridiculously assists the teams who play terrible programs who happen to have larger enrollments. In the business of covering Kentucky High School football we have a term we call “Championship Level Defense.” What we say about it is simply a Kentucky high school football team will never win a championship without playing defensively like a champion. There is one team we expect to make a rather strident leap forward in 2020 and it is the Russellville Panthers. They are used to owning the 1A classification on the western end of Kentucky outside of Louisville and it appears there are brighter days ahead for the traditionally rich program.
