Ethan Cobb has proven himself an exceptional talent among ’28 IOLs across the commonwealth of Kentucky. One could even say Cobb has been keeping it very cool there in the Campbellsville, KY football scene. Cobb was a starter and every down kind of guy for the Cardinals in 2025 and sports a three-plate (315-lbs.) bench press and a 505-pound back squat. At 5’11,” 275-pounds, that makes him extremely hard to dig out of the A-Gap. Coach Harris has come along to take Scott Parkey’s place at the helm and his staff at Taylor County High will be mighty happy, going forward into the ’26 season, to have an offensive center like Cobb. Let’s keep it comfortable out there, Kentucky, and allow us to help you in that regard at Big Ass Fans!

There are good players on literally every roster no matter. how much that particular roster struggles. We have shown you, the reader, countless examples of this. Coach Kelly Ford’s Vikings aren’t getting a ton of ink these days. One and nine seasons will to that to any program. Still, the Vikings return most of its production from a year ago and JT Judd is a multi-phase, multi-sport stud. Last year, Judd was the ball club’s leading INT guy, leading fumbles recovery specialist, leading rusher, receiver, and scorer. That is leading the ball club in several crucial statistical categories. Heading into ’26, this is a kid who could end up on some all-state teams, like our’s (Big Ass Fans, Large School) for instance. Play hard, young man; we will be watching.

We scour the commonwealth of Kentucky looking for playing talent on whom to report. We don’t always find the 6’6,” 235-pound DEs and Long Snappers, but we found this one. Griffin Benke has to be among the more imposing players across Northern Kentucky playing the high school game today. He plays for one of Kentucky’s more storied programs. Benke runs the 40 in 4.82-seconds, shuttles in 4.7, has a 30-inch vertical, presses 310-pounds, reps the high school rep weight (185-pounds) 28-times, squats 400, and power cleans 245. This kid is being courted by a ton of D-1s from FCS through the Power 4s. First he has to get the Bluebirds back where that program belongs, in the championship winner’s circle. Enjoy the feature.

There isn’t a program in all of Kentucky which pumps out more college prospects than Frederick Douglass High in Lexington, KY. These guys do a first rate job of developing talent. These guys do a first rate job of promoting talent. Coach Nathan McPeek is cementing himself among KHSAA football coaches as an elite practitioner. Preston Bates is a two-sport, varsity performer who plays defensive line for the Broncos. Bates has the feet, length, wind, and explosive twitchiness to thrive along a defensive front. Bates is listed as a ’28 kid but the roster from a season ago lists him as a “junior.” We will defer to the school’s recruiting site and call him a ’28, which makes him a rising junior and not a rising senior. Regardless, the 6’3,” 270-pound, multi-sport athlete should be a terror this coming season.

Tripp Setliff is a guy we saw quite a bit from on the Future Stars circuit. He played on the KY Future Stars team in seventh and eighth grade. He is a hulking interior guy who has done quite a bit of work on his feet, speed, spacial quicks, and explosion. He is rounding into a top-flight interior OL in the KY/WV area and is at Huntington High presently. Could we see this kid migrate down south to play for a Kentucky High School? Well, you know anything is possible and very similar like moves have been before tried and successfully. Enjoy this feature.

Roy Walton led a group of young football players who would be known throughout the commonwealth as “Roy’s Boys.” He coached five years at Lafayette and 25 years at Tates Creek. It was at Tates Creek where he would win his two (2) football Kentucky titles, one in 1972 and the other in 1978. Roy Walton was part psychologist, part magician, and all football coach.
