Centre College goes down in Angola, IN and now must ‘turn things around’ for a trip to the Bluff City. @CentreFootball @minguabeefjerky @1776Bank

Well, the Colonels put together 4-Quarters on Saturday, just not the brand of 4-Quarter play Centre fans were hoping to see. Saturday we saw four entire quarters of offensive ineptitude. Trine was a tough out a year ago at home in Danville, Kentucky. This year, in Angola, Indiana, there were perfectly insurmountable. We have no time for idle sympathy as in-conference opponent Rhodes College is salivating waiting for our arrival in Memphis, Tennessee October 1. We better come loaded and ready for Lynx or it could turn into a second consecutive ‘long afternoon.’ HB.

Gavin Copenhaver is one tough hombre for CAL’s centurions. @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @1776Bank @KyHighFootball @kyhighs @HLpreps @MaxPreps @centurions_fb

Gavin Copenhaver has committed himself to leading his centurions back to the very top of the 3A classification. Copenhaver is certainly doing his part to help the centurions scale that competitive mountain clear to the tip-top. Enjoy this feature about a senior RB/LB who appears capable of doing it all and who also seems assured of being on a ton of recruiting boards going forward. Mountain Musical Chairs…mountain football prospects move from school to school. @kizer_slone @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @1776Bank @MaxPreps @EliteZoneShow @BGSportsNation @HLpreps

It is called Mountain Musical Chairs. Each year some of the mountain’s finest football talent moves from school to school. It is accepted, rarely bad-mouthed, and frankly just a way of life around the Appalachia region. Ask Belfry how many of its former superstar players were from over the West Virginia state line for instance. Well the three prospects pictured above, Kizer Alone, Landon Smith, and Ethan Combs, all played for Knott County a year ago. This year, zero for three…c’est la vie!

Good God(by), this kid can flat-out ball! Chandler Godby is not an unknown commodity in Kentucky High School football circles. He caught 75-balls as a junior, for 1,61-yards receiving, with 16-TDs receiving in route to an All-State selection as a junior in ’21. What will he do for an encore? […]

@EvanMiller7603 from @BreathittFB vows the recent flooding will not keep down Bobcats. @CoachDerekDay @Drake_Jackson52 @JohnLoweWYMT @EliteZoneShow @minguabeefjerky @KyHighFootball @PrepSpin @HLpreps @1776Bank

Evan Miller is one of the better framed out ’24s at the Center position along the interior OL. Here is the rub. He has to beat out his younger, hard-charging little brother Carson to hold on to the spot. This should be a spirited battle going forward and the winner will be the Bobcat program and the losers will be the Bobcat opponents. Hey, this is what makes high school football the greatest game on earth in this publication’s opinion. HB.

We are finishing this series with our preseason top 5 in the 6A classification. There are some teams missing here which will surprise some folks. We have sort of gone out on a limb here, but we are gamblers what can we say? Anyway, this is how we see it. Feel free to discuss amongst yourselves. HB.

Tristin Dillard, ’27, and Jack Whaley Long, ’27, looking to right the Tiger ship this Fall. @minguabeefjerky @KyHighFootball @khsaafootball @PrepSpin @MaxPreps @OfficialKYMSFA @KYFUTURESTARS

One of them (Tristin Dillard) is considered among the best RBs in Kentucky and is a member of the Team Kentucky FBU Elite squad and the other (Jack Whaley Long) is a relative unknown but is starting to demonstrate the skills requisite to achieve stardom at this and the next level. Together, they will take a young HMS squad as far as they are able to carry the Tigers. Enjoy this look at two ’27 stars. HB.

When you get to Kentucky 5A, that is certainly denoted as “Big Boy Football” within the commonwealth. For instance, players playing two-ways or “iron man football” at the 5A level or higher gets increasingly rare but you will still see it and usually those pulling it off are really special talents. Here is our best guess concerning how this classification shakes out this coming season. Enjoy! HB.
