March 3, 2026 Fletcher Long 0

We are very pleased to welcome Lasaters Coffee & Tea to our growing family of advertisers. The Kelley family has a very long history in the local football industry and several of the Kelleys have had their numbers retired owing to their familial history of playing excellence. Football has been very good to their family and they look for ways to give back to this very special community. Lasaters is a place one goes to get caffeinated and motivated and couldn’t we all use a bit more of that invigoration in our daily routines. Get by one (1) of our four (4) Christian County, Kentucky locations and enjoy the roasted flavor of a hot cup of warmth and love.

Last season we thought we were going to have to start calling them the “Heartbreak Wildcats” if things didn’t start trending differently. Trigg County dropped consecutive, one-point defeats to the toughest of competition under very strange and almost lightening-striking-ish type situations. Still, the play the team was getting from its then-sophomore/rising junior QB was extraordinary. Cade Scott was and still is a superlatively good, three sport, varsity athlete who excels at FB (QB), basketball (SG), and baseball (OF/LHP). He completed nearly 75% of his passing attempts and consistently put the offense in situations where it should and, often did, thrive. Enjoy this feature on this wonderfully gifted and talented young football star.

Beau Artman from St. Xavier (Lou.) is our @bigassfans Kentucky Comfort Creator of the Week @bigassfans, @eCampusdotcom, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball,

February 27, 2026 Fletcher Long 0

Mason Trimble is headed to Danville, KY where it is anticipated he will be competing for QB-1 reps for the “Praying Colonels” in the Fall. That leaves a job opening under center for the St. Xavier Tigers under first year HFC, Brian Landis. Who will fill that slot? We take a look at the situation and garner a guess about one of the candidates, Beau Artman. Artman has the frame, physique, and athletic ability to take a run at the job. Opportunity is knocking, will Artman answer the door? Let’s keep it comfortable out there, Kentucky, and allow us to help you out in that regard at Big Ass Fans!

Gage Chapman (’27) is our Bank of Cadiz feature of the Week @KatherineL58069, @Chapman42071, @MurrayQBClub, @LasatersCoffee, @eCampusdotcom, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @Ale8One, @CountyColonels, @HopHighTigers, @murrayFB

February 16, 2026 Fletcher Long 0

We continue on with our offseason coverage not really discussing players of the week so much as discussing featured players and prospects. Gage Chapman is simply among the best multi-phase football talents in the Kentucky-wide, KHSAA football game today at any level. Gage came up from middle school among the commonwealth’s most talented players and has done nothing but confirm we were all right about him from the beginning. Chapman is only going to improve over his senior season, particularly on offense where he should get many more opportunities. Chapman is the kind of kid coaches want to coach and, in the end, that may be the finest compliment which can be paid to him (or any other kid). Enjoy the feature.

Jaxson Dernocoeur got a taste of what varsity football entails and finds himself hungry for more! @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @bigassfans, @LasatersCoffee, @FC_FALCONS_FB

February 10, 2026 Fletcher Long 0

Jason Dernocoeur is a guy who has loads of promise and appears prepared to do lots of work to develop into the type player he wants to be. He is built like an interior offensive lineman, wears the number of a guard or center, but will probably have to pull “double duty” through much of his high school career. This young guys has shown he has what it takes to get it done. Congratulations to Jaxson Dernocoeur for being our ‘Wake Up and Smell the Coffee (or Tea)’ Player of the Week from Lasaters Coffee & Tea where you are more than served, you are loved!

Every high school has an all-time football coach. Some of these guys are in the KHSAA Hall of Fame and others of them aren’t well known outside of their territories. Regardless, all of these guys were great and have wonderful attributes which made them the kind of men for whom families, for generations, have entrusted their sons. Hoover Niece, a KHSAA Hall of Famer, was such a coach and we believe Austin Moore is headed in a great direction. Enjoy this look at a kid named for a famous prophet but whose future success doesn’t take a prophet to foresee.

Centre Colonels pluck top Florida safety (Justin Rode, Fort Myers) for ’26 signing class… @CoachRodeBV, @JustinRode_, @H2_Recruiting, @CoachSimmons_CC, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @eCampusdotcom, @LasatersCoffee

February 2, 2026 Fletcher Long 0

The Centre Colonels recruit better than almost any small college in the Kentucky area. Chief among the reasons the Colonels are viewed as such a prestigious offer by area prospects is Centre’s standing among peer institutions, the quality of the education it both help funds and provides to it student body, its prestigious history, its second to none facilities, and its second to none social, academic, and even athletic opportunities the school provides to and for its student body. Centre is a big leagues school which attracts big time talent to its athletic programs, football included, (perhaps) football especially. Centre has struck oil again plucking out of Fort Myers one of Florida’s premier safeties. Justin Rode is a coach’s son, has the football IQ that entails, carried a 4.1-GPA and an SAT of 1200, and brings an element of power, speed, and twitch which should be reminiscent of another former Colonel great from E-Town. Enjoy this feature.

Mason Trimble pledges to the Colonels from Centre College and is our @bigassfans Kentucky Comfort Creator of the Week @StXTigersFB, @trimble_mason, @CoachKWallace, @CoachAndyFrye, @CoachOrts, @CentreFootball, @CoachLandis22, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball

Mason Trimble did a ton of stuff in 2025. He was ranked a top-5 Kentucky QB by nearly every national publication which publishes such rankings, he made our large school all-state football team, he led his team to 10-wins, threw for over 2,000-yards, around 26-TDs, ran for another 8-scores and did all of this against the hardest schedule played by any KHSAA football team at any level of competition. Now, in ’26, he has pledged himself to Kentucky’s most prestigious, liberal arts, small college football program. However, there is nothing small about being a Centre Man. Enjoy the feature and let’s keep it comfortable out there, Kentucky!

We heard a player described by a coach who had offered him as a “Football Playing Jesse.” We looked that term up and, what do you know, it really is a thing. A “Football Playing Jesse” is a guy who may not be the right frame, may be a tad small, or a tad slow, or whatever but is just a guy who “does it” when he gets o the field between the lines and under the lights. Today we feature a kid who is as Football Playing of a Jesse as any kid in the KHSAA. Enjoy this look at one of the best football players the commonwealth of Kentucky has competition at any level of competition.

Kylan Combs from Breathitt has taken the long way home @combs_kory, @Elithomas1219, @BreathittFb, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @bigassfans, @eCampusdotcom

January 17, 2026 Fletcher Long 0

Among my favorite groups in the seventies was the group “Supertramp.” They had a wonderful song entitled, “Take the Long Way Home” released in 1979. Kylan Combs knows all about taking the long way to anywhere. Combs’s home is on a football field, positioned at safety, or anywhere on a gridiron actually. You see, Kylan Combs is a “Combs.” In the Appalachias, you don’t have to say any more. We fully understand the level of citizenship that surname requires and signifies and the football playing effort and talent associated with that particular family throughout the region. Kylan Combs has taken the long way home to stardom in Breathitt’s defensive third level once again and has made another of our Small School All-State Football Teams (Big Ass Fans) and we are mighty glad to welcome him home. Enjoy the article.
