If you have been reading our weekly “Outstanding Performances…” articles, the series of articles should have impressed upon you how very difficult winning this award really is. Murray High may have a backfield full of the hardest names to spell in all of football. You virtually need a doctorate to even attempt to spell Rowdy Sokolowski, Brendon Dahncke, or Charvelle McCallister. This week’s recipient, Brendon Dahncke, had a particularly good game in one of his team’s more important games of the year, against cross-town, 4A, District 1 heavyweight, Calloway County. It was a battle for supremacy in the city of Murray and the county of Calloway and Dahncke led his team to the winner’s circle. This week’s “Revolutionary Player of the Week” is one of Kentucky’s better LB/TE prospects in the class of 2023. Simon Ghee is a name you might not know but we highly recommend you learn. He is 6-2 and weighs 220 pounds and he is having quite a year for Class 4A, District 2 Warren East High School. Ghee and his teammates have a huge district showdown Friday night against Franklin-Simpson, a team which has historically had its way with both Warren East and the rest of District 2. Well with the performances we are regularly seeing around Kentucky these days, it was bound to happen. We have a week we had to give out two awards. We got special permission to do it this one time so don’t be thinking this will become a “regular thing.” Matt Anderson is a top-flight sophomore RB whose performance Friday night was unbelievable. Anthony Johns is a hulking OL who also plays defense for a team which took down the defending state champion and top ranked team, Somerset, on this past Friday night. The game was in Somerset. Bunton plays for Bowling Green High School, and is the team’s leading rusher on the year with 452-yards gained in 4 games with 86-carries and 9-TDs so far.
