Talk about your protein-packed performers, this 6-1, 215-pound MLB for Owensboro (Senior) High School (5A) had one of those nights where he was called upon to contribute on multiple sides of the scrimmage line. He came away with a big-time performance and productive regardless of what he was called upon to do. In a tight contest like last Friday with Owensboro Catholic, where every score was important, his contributions were instrumental to victory. We think AG (as we call him around the magazine) is the definitive player at his defensive position in Kentucky high school football. Can’t flatter a guy much more than that! Talk about your protein-packed performers, this 5-11, 190-pound RB/DB for Belfry High School (3A) had a quite a night this past Friday. Matter of fact, he’s having quite the year. We think he is a bone fide “Mr. Football” candidate. He’s been in the running every week for the “prize.” If a night like what he had Friday doesn’t get you a T-shirt and some beef jerky, it is hard to imagine what one has to accomplish to win the award. Here’s one for our friends in Owensboro, Kentucky where Independence Bank has 3-branches presently. QB, Lincoln Clancy had huge shoes to fill when he inherited the job from 2019 graduate, Drew Hartz. So far the returns are very favorable. Most importantly, he has led the “Aces” to three wins against zero defeats. Catholic (2A) still has to play Owensboro “Senior” (5A), Apollo (6A), and Daviess County (6A) before everything is “said and done.” For now, Clancy is rolling and so is the team he has been entrusted to lead. Congratulations on being the “Revolutionary Player of the Week” and join us, this time next week, as we distinguish another worthy recipient. HB.

Talk about your protein-packed performers, this 6-1, 180-pound WR for Pikeville High School (1A) had a night which broke two state records and came in 3rd in another statistical category. If a night like that doesn’t get you a T-shirt and some beef jerky, it is hard to imagine what one has to accomplish to win this award. Harold Patterson’s Eagles really struggled in the opener against the Red Devils from Owensboro High School. Not many teams invade Red Devil Stadium and come away looking too good. The Eagles really need to rebound tonight when Meade County’s “Green Wave” come crashing into Apollo’s shore looking for high tide. Coach Edge’s Eagles will need another performance like Patterson turned in against Owensboro (Senior) High to have a chance to emerge victorious. On the eve of opening the season, we decided to go back and award a former recipient of this same award. Andrew Munster was first awarded the Revolutionary Player of the Week by Independence Bank on January 26, 2019. With his recent selection to the “Herald-Leader Hundred” we thought now would be a good time to give the distinction to him a second time.
