’27 DE/RB appears poised for a big senior year

The first thing Coby Lewis had to do to improve the fortunes of his Calloway County Lakers upon taking the head coaching job right before the ’25 season was to find a way to develop and upgrade its roster talent. Mission accomplished. Team opened the Lewis-tenure with a six (6) win season. Brayden Tupper was a load for any opponent in 2025 and the argument could be made Tupper had an All-State caliber season. We missed him, but no All-State team is perfect. Tupper’s caught our eye now. Tupper is 5’11,” 230-pounds of twitchy, explosive, muscle and sinew. As a junior, Tupper registered 52-tackles, 12.5-TFLs, and three (3) QB-sacks. On top of all that, Tupper scored a pair of rushing TDs, a scoop and score, forced four (4) fumbles, while recovering a pair. This kid had quite the year. There is very little this kid can’t do and we look forward to seeing an expanded offensive role for this kid, in ’26, to go along with what he brings to the collective table defensively.

The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company, based in Cadiz, Kentucky, was founded August 7, 1970. The bank obtained trust powers in 1978.

Murray, KY

It is a locally owned, independent bank which has expanded, through the years, to locations in Hopkinsville and Murray in addition to Cadiz. The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company has focused on community finance and dealing face-to-face with both families and small-business owners while fulfilling customer needs and the dreams of area families and businesses regardless of size or construct.

We, like our area schools, strive for high performance and finding ways to prosper in an ever-changing economic environment. The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company remains committed to superior performance goals coupled with an exceptional quality of customer service.

’27 DE/RB, Brayden Tupper was among the local, young, high school athletes who also rendered a superior performance while achieving exceptional quality this past season. What will this budding star player pull in his coming senior season? We can’t wait to see.

That is why Tupper is our feature of the week. If history should repeat itself, whatever he does will be potentially special and on both sides of the scrimmage line.

Murray, KY: We aren’t too far from embarking on another glorious football Fall. Right now, in the midst of our offseason coverage, we are forecasting which players are likely to be all-star/all-state caliber heading into the season.

5’11,” 230, Brayden Tupper

This is hard to do. We will omit some players who should have been featured and we will feature some whose performances will fail to live up to the hype.

Either way, this is what makes being a fan worthwhile and fun. The ability to make such forecasts is what makes us the leading digital football magazine in the business.

We have recently published the Lasaters Coffee & Tea, preseason, “Nifty-Nichols.” These were the 55 players, across the commonwealth, who we believed were likely to stand out once the season arrives and play commences.

Some of these will prove on the money. Others will require some explaining on the backside regarding just what were we thinking in March of ’26.

While Brayden Tupper didn’t make the Nifty-Nichols, he wasn’t far off. Should Tupper have the type year in ’26 he enjoyed in ’25, his making our Big Ass Fans, Large School All-State football team wouldn’t be (at all) out of the question. Tupper is a heavily recruited prospect across the commonwealth for a reason.

Tupper is an elite player along the defensive front on the western end of KY at his level of play

Friday Night Fletch

Tupper lacks some height and length in his frame. That aside, Tupper is plenty of athlete, and plenty productive on the field, to shore up any perceived deficiency.

Tupper had the numbers to support his elite status from his junior year. As Coach Lyon told you in our above scout, Tupper registered 52-tackles, 12.5-TFLs, and three (3) QB-sacks. On top of all that, Tupper scored a pair of rushing TDs, a scoop and score, forced four (4) fumbles, while recovering a pair (2-FRs).

Tupper established a program record for forced fumbles in a single game with three (3). That is extraordinary and game changing.

Tupper didn’t make our Big Ass Fans, Large School, All-State Football team in ’25. Tupper also just missed making our inaugural Lasaters Coffee & Tea, preseason, Nifty-Nichols.

We have a link to the reveal show regarding the Big Ass Fans team. You can play our commentary should you be curious.

In spite of our misses, there aren’t too many, around Kentucky, who don’t believe this kid to be an elite player as a defensive lineman and (perhaps) as a late down, short distance RB/FB/HB. Right now, Tupper is viewed more as a defender, at the college level, but Tupper’s build and ability to get those “tough yards” make him potentially attractive for the grunt work required to pick up those fourth and ones and goal line touchdowns. That type game play is in Tupper’s arsenal should the Lakers choose to utilize it.

Setting schools records

This guy is set to have a big year. Tupper’s being the Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company’s Feature of the Week only adds some more luster to his other distinctions.

We know this, the Lakers will be excellently coached and excellently prepared. We like this program’s track record. We love this program’s trajectory.

This offseason will go a long way in answering questions. Regardless, seeing the answers revealed should prove entirely interesting.

Let’s just hope Brayden Tupper continues to demonstrate the type performance he has shown thus far. That would really get this program off on the right foot in 2026!
