People always want to know how we’re able to identify a future high school star so early in that star’s high school career. Well, it isn’t as hard as you think. Look for the young player who pours it on in the offseason, mix in some measurables and early PT, and that will usually be ‘your guy.’ Big D is our guy and he is also among a handful of the fine OC’s around the commonwealth of Kentucky. What a job Chase Flaherty did filling in at RB for the newly crowned 2A Kentucky Champions, Beechwood, after it lost its “Mr. Football” candidate Mitchell Berger. Almost makes you think the Tigers are elite across the offensive front, which is the case by the way. Still, the championship game came down to Mayfield’s extra-point attempt sailing wide of a college goal post which would have been good had the kicker been kicking toward a high school goal post. John Lennon and Paul McCartney collaborated on a song entitled, “With a Little Help from my Friends.” It was for the movie, “Yellow Submarine.” It was written in 1967. Kade Elam has killed it all year for his undefeated Corbin Redounds. Coming into the Championship in 4A, they have been the team discounted and overlooked all year, in spite of going 14-0 and having the highest RPI in the 4A classification.
