Bomar did more with less opportunity Friday night against Webster; Murray now 7-0 heading into bye-week

We have been talking about Wyatt Robbins and his spectacular exploits all season. There is another star on the roster who contributes to multiple phases and has developed into one of western Kentucky’s more prolific star players. His name is Amarion Bomar and his level of production has been both noticeable and prodigious. What he did this weekend with limited opportunities against district foe, Webster County, is astounding. With Union County, Hopkins County Central, and Caldwell County remaining, this team’s finishing the regular season at 10-0 and heading to the playoffs with three to four rounds promised to be played in Murray, KY is not out of the question. Matter of fact, one might term it “probable.” Enjoy this look at Murray High’s dynamic, explosive, productive, and highly skilled RB/S combo guy.

The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company, based in Cadiz, Kentucky, was founded August 7, 1970. The bank obtained trust powers in 1978.

The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company has focused on community finance and dealing face-to-face with both families and small-business owners while fulfilling customer needs and the dreams of area families and businesses regardless of size or construct.

We, like our area schools, strive for high performance and finding ways to prosper in an ever-changing economic environment. The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company remains committed to superior performance goals coupled with an exceptional quality of customer service.

A local, young, high school athlete who also renders superior performance while achieving exceptional quality is Murray High’s, Amarion Bomar, ’26 RB/S. Bomar is this week’s Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company Superior Performance/Exceptional Quality Player of the Week.

Murray, KY: Well, as we thought a week ago, the RPI (Ratings Percentage Index) has been posted Kentucky-wide. As expected, Murray High has a very high index.

Season)

Heading into its bye-week, and post a 56-0 beat down of conference foe, Webster County, Murray sports a .75854 RPI. It is the fourth highest such number in the commonwealth. The three ahead of Murray are located in Louisville (CAL), eastern-KY (Bell County), and northern-KY (Lloyd Memorial).

If the playoffs were today, Murray would be home for (at least) the first three rounds. The Tigers would likely travel for the semi-state, should the teams ahead of Murray hold serve and advance.

Beating those 6As, like McCracken, really was important. Sooner or later, every team has to play some district games and Murray played Webster County this past weekend. It was somewhat of a breeze. The Tigers barely broke a sweat.

Amarion Bomar carried the ball four (4) times, gaining 102-yards rushing, and scoring two (2) TDs for a touchdown every other rushing attempt. We call that efficiency in the football world.

Bomar’s game with Webster was not unlike what he has been doing all year. Through seven (7) games, all wins, Bomar leads the club in rushing with 473-yards with six (6) rushing TDs in only 59-carries. Bomar has 17-receptions for 357-yards receiving and two (2) TD receptions. Bomar is second on the team in scoring (48) points.

Bomar plays a little defense too. Bomar has 16-registered tackles from his safety post, is among the leaders on the back end in passes defended or broken up, and has registered a fumble recovery (FR).

In the lead up to district play, which has now begun in earnest across KY, the Tigers found themselves benefitting from having scheduled well. Their high RPI resulted from the Tigers beating out of classification teams like 4A, Calloway County, three 5As (Apollo, Graves, and Marshall), and 6A McCracken.

Murray High will take a week off before traveling to Morganfield to play an ever-improving Union County team which played, in Lexington, for the 3A title a season ago. Union is coming off a big district win over Hopkins County Central (42-22).

Union County has moved its record to 4-3 through its first seven (7) games. Union is off this week, like Murray, so both the Tigers and Braves should enter next weekend’s (October 17) contest healed up and well rested for the stretch run.

Point is, Murray looks to be entering the regular season’s final three games playing its best football in a season which has seen the Tigers play mighty well. Murray appears to have improved weekly, demonstrating the team is being well coached in addition to its having a ton of rostered talent.

At the end of the day, that is sort of the point; now, isn’t it? Well coached and well drilled teams improve; they develop. That is the sine qua non of being coached; the improvement part, the roster’s continued development.

The trip to Morganfield will likely be for the regular season district crown and the “Poll Position” (to borrow from auto racing) in the western KY, 3A classification entering the playoffs. The Tigers will need stars, like Bomar, on hand; both healthy and ready to perform.

We can’t make it any simpler than that. We’ll see you at the game!
