Aiden Ellington is coming on the varsity roster and is our Bank of Cadiz featured Wildcat! @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @KatherineL58069

’30 lineman doesn’t look like a ‘typical freshman’

Talk about your big young-ins, Aiden Ellington is coming onto the varsity roster and it is imagined he will get play in the rotation as early as night one. This kid is already lifting with the varsity and making strides. It takes a minute for twitchy lifts like power clean to come along but the kid is already pressing and squatting a fair amount more than the usual freshman. Of course, hard to fake a big body, and Ellington certainly has that. This is a kid whose playtime and ability will only increase the more he learns to get down hill, collide, and start using his size to bully opposing players. You have to give him this, he already looks the part.

8th graders didn’t look like this in my day…

Cadiz, KY: The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company, based in Cadiz, Kentucky, was founded August 7, 1970. The bank obtained trust powers in 1978.

Cadiz, KY

It is a locally owned, independent bank which has expanded, through the years, to locations in Hopkinsville and Murray in addition to Cadiz. The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company has focused on community finance and dealing face-to-face with both families and small-business owners while fulfilling customer needs and the dreams of area families and businesses regardless of size or construct.

We, like our area schools, strive for high performance and finding ways to prosper in an ever-changing economic environment. The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company remains committed to superior performance goals coupled with an exceptional quality of customer service.

’30 lineman, Aiden Ellington was among the local, young, middle school athletes who also rendered a superior performance while achieving exceptional quality this past season. What will this star lineman be able to pull off as a rising freshman on the varsity roster? Well, that is the reason Ellington is our featured player of the week. Perhaps we can arrive at some sort of an answer.

Cadiz, KY: We were working on a piece, a few weeks ago, about a Trigg player for our serial piece sponsored by The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company. Bank of Cadiz has entered their second year with us and both parties are well pleased with how the promotional partnership is going.

Be on the lookout for the Bank of Cadiz All-State Players of the Week patches. You will see them on the letterman’s jackets of star players in the areas where the Bank flourishes and provides its services (Trigg, Calloway, and Christian Counties).

Back to our story.

We were working on this article and we went to head football coach, Chris Ezell, for comment. While we had his attention, we asked Ezell if any players coming up from middle school might factor into the rotation next year.

This is not an uncommon “ask” on our part. More 9th graders are hitting varsity fields than at any prior time in our recent memory. It is amazing how anatomically “ready” some of these kids are coming up from 8th grade.

Ezell was quick to talk about Aiden Ellington. Ellington is a 5’10,” 270-pound grown man who Ezell believes will be a “rotational piece” anywhere from tackle to nose guard.

Ezell has the kid already offseason lifting with the “big boys.” Ezell tells KPGFootball, “Ellington is already making impressive strides in the weight room.”

That is a scary proposition. Trigg County has won as many powerlifting titles in the commonwealth of Kentucky as Notre Dame and Alabama have won CFP titles.

There isn’t a more decorated program in the commonwealth of Kentucky in powerlifting than Trigg. There isn’t a more accomplished weight trainer than assistant coach, Dixie Jones and the rest of his strength and conditioning staff.

Ellington had a big year playing along the lines of scrimmage in middle school a season ago. There is a tremendous jump physically from the demands of playing at the MS level and playing against 18-19-year olds on Friday Nights.

Ellingon provides a big, strong body and “twitchy” quickness to use inside on either the OL or DL

Still, it isn’t an unbridgeable gap. Lots of players have demonstrated the ability to “break through” and even find the starting lineup before the year is finished. Ellington is as anatomically ready for such a jump as any player coming up from 8th-grade we are told. Looking at his picture, we don’t doubt it.

Ellington won’t be alone. We have previously identified both Quay Green (’30) and Elijah McKelvey (’30) as guys who could contribute and figure to get “special teams” run sooner rather than later.

This offseason will be huge for all three of these young phenoms. It is critical for Ellington who already has so many desirable attributes insuring playing time come his inaugural season.

How far along will this young bull be, physically, come mid-August? That appears to be on him, wouldn’t you agree?
