Today we honor ’22 QB, Adrain Stringer, from Hopkins County Central High School. Stringer’s Central High is not too far from a couple of famous branches in the Independence Bank family.
There is a branch located on 1776 North Main Street and another one on 629 East Center Street. Of course, both branches are located in or around the Madisonville, Kentucky community.
We have some vague recollection of Adrian Stringer before winning this award. If that recollection should prove to be faulty, what in the world took us this long?
Stringer, a 6-3, 230-pound QB in the ’22 class has long been considered among the very finest QBs on the western-end of the commonwealth of Kentucky playing the high school game. He has been putting up Madden-like numbers for you video game fanatics.
Hopkins County Central ran its record, this past Friday night, to 3-1 with a date against Ballard Memorial this evening. Should they withstand the coming barrage, to run the record to 4-1, it will be one of the program’s best half-way point records in recent memory.
Against a tough Todd County Central team, which the Storm overcame in overtime 54-52, ’22 QB, Adrian Stringer, was 23-42 for 448 and 5 TDs. Those are huge numbers against any opponent, particularly one as well thought of in its own right among Class 2A heavyweights on the western end of Kentucky as the Todd Central High School Rebels.
We would be remiss in not mentioning a few Rebels who were valiant in defeat. Omarion Riddick (’22) carried it 17-times for 148-yards rushing with a TD. Gavy Nolan (’23) was six (6) for 11 for 142-yards passing with three (3)-TDs and rushed it nine (9)-times for 61-yards and a score.
KPGFootball caught up with Central’s Offensive Coordinator. Coach Mike Evans told us The Storm played a little Mumme-ball against the Rebels. Well, whatever they did proved successful.
Todd County Central’s record dropped to 2-2 with the really tough loss. Had the game gone the other way, and it certainly could have, this might well have been an all-together different article hailing the trajectory of the Rebels’ prognosis at its mid-season point. It really is a game of inches.
On the year, Stringer, a reclassified senior QB, has completed 51 of his 92-passing attempts for 875-yards passing with 8-TDs against only 2-picks. Stringer has run the football 29-times for 198-yards and another three scores. The big senior is second on the entire team in both rushing yards and rushing TDs.
