Chase Couch is screaming off the edge and impressing suitors along the way… @TimCouchQB @ParkerChaney9 @report_kentucky @TVStudioGrrrl @1bad12bad @TheCatsPause247 @Chase41_sc @1776Bank @minguabeefjerky @HLPreps @kyhighs @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball

Chase Couch, 6'4," 230-pound DE bearing down on the ball carrier

’24 Edge Rusher’s dance card filling up quickly

Chase Couch has the frame (6’4,” 230) one wants from an edge guy screaming off the end of any defense. Can he perform at college football’s highest level of competition (the FBS Power 5) in its top league (the SEC)? Well, Mark Stoops would say an emphatic “Yes.” The Big Blue has already offered this DE. There figures to be many more to come.

It probably isn’t easy being Tim Couch’s son. Tim Couch, from Hyden, Kentucky (Leslie County), completed more passes (872), threw for more yards (12,104), completed more TD passes (132), and had a higher completion percentage (75.1%) than any QB who had ever before played football, anywhere in the USA, when coming out of high school.

T. Couch

Tim Couch won “Mr. Football,” and was ranked by ESPN the sixth-best high school athlete ever. Before we forget, Couch played varsity basketball where he scored 3,023-points in his career.

Couch went on to UK where he set the SEC record of single-season passing yards and won QB of the Year as a junior. Tim Couch was selected first overall by the Browns in the 1999 draft and played for five (5) seasons, throwing for 11,000 yards and helping the Browns get in the playoffs in 2002 before his NFL career was shortened by injury.

Like we said, hard act to follow. However, the younger Couch, the topic of this feature here, is doing a fine job of carving out his own path.

Chase Couch is a 6’4,” 230-pound DE for Lexington Christian. He is a ’24 kid who already holds several D-1 offers, UK included.

Last year, for the Eagles, Couch was among the leaders in tackles, TFL’s, and QB-sacks. He was among the leaders in “hurries” or “pressures” but this is not a statistic generally kept at the high school level.

Suffice it to say, Couch was a disruptive force on that LCA front defensively over his junior year. Even bigger things are expected of Couch over his final stanza.

Couch is not yet a rated prospect by any of the national recruiting sites. However, his NFL pedigree and D-1 frame, together with continued performance on the field screaming to be recognized, may soon remedy that.

One of Couch’s most prized attributes…[his] sporting a 3.8 GPA

HB Lyon

One of Couch’s most prized attributes is one we have yet to discuss. We have heard reports of Couch sporting a 3.8 GPA at LCA, something which will keep him in really good stead as his recruitment continues.
