’26 RB aiming for an All-State season, ‘wanting the Smoke!’

Davaree Gude had an incredibly productive and efficient season in ’24, his junior year (as opposed to being just “gude,” pardon the pun). Gude averaged slightly over eight (8) yards a carry, gained 1,354-yards rushing, caught a TD swinging out of the backfield, averaged over 16-yards per reception in a limited sample size, scored 102-points which included housing a kick-off return on special teams, all while registering 18-tackles on defense to include three (3) TFLs and a QB-sack. By our count, and feel free to check our math, that is three (3) phase utility exhibited by this player which is a skill The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company and “KPGFootball” both highly prize.

Cadiz, KY: In high school football, star players have to carry teams to places the teams can’t reach without them. That was true in Marty Jaggers’s day. That was true in Robert Stinson’s day (a.k.a. The Big Cat!). That was true in “Big” Al Baker’s day.

Matter of fact, the same has been true for every Wildcat “former playing great” who has preceded Davaree Gude (’26 RB/LB). The duty now falls to Gude to want the smoke, to handle the smoke.

The great coaches; the Pappa Joe Jaggers types, the Curtis Higgins types, the Dixie Jones types would all agree the star on any roster has to want that smoke. Do. you want that smoke, Davaree [Gude]?

You have thus far. Time will tell in ’25.

Gude’s junior season performance was nothing short of spectacular. In ’24, Gude toted the pill (if you will) 165-times for 1,354-yards. That is tad over eight (8) yards per rushing attempt.

Gude logged 15-TDs rushing, had a TD receiving, and averaged slightly over 16-yards a reception in a handful of opportunities. That is great production for a 6’1,” 220-pound RB who routinely clocks 40-yards in the mid-4.5s.

Gude led the Wildcats in scoring with 102-points. Those points were scored by registering 15-TDs rushing, 1-TD reception, and housing a kick-off return on special teams (See, we told you he was fast).

In addition to offense and special teams, Gude played a bit of defense. His numbers, in a limited amount of defensive snaps, indicated the team might benefit from his playing more on the defensive side of the scrimmage line going forward.

Stars like Davaree Gude have to ‘want that smoke!

Friday Night Fletch

Gude registered 18-tackles on defense. Gude recorded three (3) TFLs and a sack as the “cherry on top of the sundae,” if you will.

The point is, Gude has risen up and performed every time his team has called on him. Gude wants that smoke! Gude’s proven he can handle that smoke!

Gude has to keep wanting the smoke because that is what being a star requires. If Gude keeps giving a star’s effort, and rendering to his team both superior performance and exceptional quality, just like The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company, the Wildcats may travel a ways in the 2A classification’s playoff structure this coming season.

We can’t make it any simpler than that. We’ll see you at the game!
