There is no better time than the present to anoint another Independence Bank player of the week. Independence Bank is proud to sponsor a weekly article highlighting players in the areas where Independence Bank flourishes who embody the same type of revolutionary service to their respective football teams which has made Independence Bank unique and special in the banking industry. 

Independence Bank has a goal of achieving everyday excellence, and this week we are focusing on a player whose performance exceeded the Maroons’ and the Madisonville, Kentucky community’s expectations. We are focusing on the class of ’23’s Tevaun Foster from Madisonville North-Hopkins High School located in Madisonville, Kentucky right down the road from Independence Bank branches located on 1776 North Main Street and 629 East Center Street respectively.

Tevaun Foster is a 300 plus-pound powerhouse who has just come back from the Kentucky State Powerlifting (Push/Pull) Championships at North Bullitt High School in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. Foster plays NG for the Maroons and is about to enter his senior season this next Fall after having a splendid junior campaign.

We love powerlifting as a sport and commonly cover it as part of the magazine’s offseason regimen. We have covered both the Powerlifting Championships (Bench + Power-clean) which has (this year) moved to Cadiz, Kentucky’s Trigg County High School from having before been held at Central Hardin and the “Push/Pull” Powerlifting State Championships historically (and still) held at North Buillett.

North-Hopkins powerlifting program had quite a showing just a few weeks ago at the “Push/Pulls,” winning titles in JV and women’s and finishing one-point out of the state title in the men’s varsity divisions. Tevaun Foster placed 3rd in the State Championships in the 308-pound weight class.

Foster is a bull. We know this about him.

Foster is a NG. NGs typically catch a double and/or (many times) triple team trying to dig him out of the middle of the line. Displacing the NG enables short yardage conversions in late-down situations or guts a defense and slows its downhill onslaught with quick offensive ground bursts. Nothing slows penetration like gap-scheme defensive linemen running by ball carriers running wild through the middle.

Over his junior campaign, the ’23 prospect registered 40-tackles, a FR, and 3-QB sacks. His sack total was good for tied for second on the team to departing senior, Traevon Civils, who had 3-TFLs, 12-QB sacks, 3FFs, and 2FRs a year ago.

Foster has shown he has the build, leverage, leg-kick, and explosion to clog up the middle or even penetrate and throw the offensive game plan of the opponent into complete dishevel. Guys cable of doing things like this don’t come along everyday for this or any other program.
