Colin Daniels and his Mustangs have a monster match-up this eventing at the Teal Field in Goshen, KY. Head Football Coach, Brock Roberts, will take on the hot as heck-fire, Atherton Rebels, and its enigmatic, young coach, Anthony White. The two teams are both 8-1 with 5A Atherton enjoying the larger of the two enrollments. The one promises to e epic and the commonwealth’s “Touchdown Leader,” Colin Daniels will figure prominently in the eventual outcome. William Shakespeare once mused “What’s in a name?” Well there is something in a name and as a fellow “Fletcher” I would profess Union County’s Abreyan “Abe” Fletcher is doing more with the name than I ever did. We are going to look at this special three (3) phase contributor and whether he can take the Braves back to Lexington to get another bite at the apple. Everyone who even remotely follows the sport knows the Union County Braves are among Kentucky’s elite 3A programs especially on the western end of Kentucky. They used to have the dubious distinction of having to battle “The Blue Tornado” for district supremacy but realignment has remedied this. They will still have to contend with Trigg County and the Hopkins County Central Storm’s “Air Raid” offense. No easy task. Linemen like Caiden Broadus easy the climb. Enjoy the feature. FL.

To say the Braves lost quite a bit of production off its 12-1 Regional Runner-up in ’22 may be a bit of an understatement. These guys really took a hit at the hands of the graduation stage. However, the Braves return one of the better DE’s in Kentucky’s Class of 2025. Will it be enough to catapult the Braves to the top of its newly realigned district? Maybe…just maybe. Union County has really been a force with which to reckon over the past few seasons. It seems the Braves are in the title hunt in 3A, and in one of 3A’s toughest districts (District 1), annually. Having players like Kris Hughes certainly doesn’t hurt matters. You wait until you see what the young man did this past Friday night. It is very hard to gauge accurately the accomplishments of the guys who play along the scrimmage line, on offense or defense. We are committed to the effort because Mingua Beef Jerky and KPGFootball recognize that winning football begins right there, on the scrimmage lines. We want to make sure we are giving those guys their fair due. Mingua Beef Jerky prizes players who work hard to make the team succeed whether the player himself gets appropriately credited or not. Such was the case Thursday night in Union. County’s opening win over Webster County in the first round of the playoffs. Union County’s Montrell Garnett had an extraordinary performance, though in an out of the ordinary sort of way. Nevertheless, we believe you will find his contributions more than deserving. We did.
