Drew Anderson is among the best ’29’s in the commonwealth of Kentucky. Matter of fact, Prep RedZone has the 5’9,” 170-pounder as the top corner in his class and the 10th highest regarded prospect overall. These guys are a nationally read and recognized as evaluators of football playing talent. This is an opinion which matters, unlike the scads and scores of other opinions you see proffered from individuals not in the business but pretending to be. Our opinion also matters. I know we just featured this kid, but it isn’t uncommon for us to feature a kid and turn immediately around and send him some protein. Check the historical record. it has been before done. This kid’s achievements in the weight room alone, and the hard work he has put in during his off-seasons, is enough to warrant this type recognition. We are here to encourage and reward these exact type efforts. Cam Alsip is the type of high school player we LOVE to cover. He’s a hard worker, kills it in the weight room, all the while looking like a mild mannered, Academic team member. Yeah, Clark Kent didn’t look like much either, at least not in glasses. This kid is busting his tail to get better and it will translate onto the field. With 15-TFLs, 6.5 sacks, and five (5) FFs in ’24, how much better can this kid possibly get? I feel sorry for the kids trying to block this monster. Enjoy the feature.

Kris Hughes is one bad bunny. Matter of fact, we can’t find where we have before featured him and that is somewhat alarming to us. Hughes had a tremendous sophomore season for first-year head coach Clay Clevenger and he looks to have the Briar Jumpers back on the title track, if last year’s trip to the semis, and 10-4 finish, are any indication. We are approaching round four (4) in the KHSAA playoffs. All of these teams left standing are very good. There are exactly no bad apples left in the barrel. It will be the “little things” which differentiate between winning and losing at this point. “Mighty Mayfield” has themselves the home field and a kicker in Lincoln Suiter who has before come through for the Cardinals in a “big game,” with the game on the line. If called upon, Friday night, will he come through once more? We shall see, but the Cardinals are confident. Enjoy the feature. HB.
