You know we usually give this award to a player who counts among his team’s, district’s, region’s or even the Bluegrass’ very best at his position. Everyone has to start somewhere and sometimes a kid who gets five (5) games of varsity run on one of 5A’s more stacked rosters is deserving of some recognition and some world famous, all-beef jerky products. Christopher Dezern got quite a bit of play for a frosh a year ago and looks to get a ton of PT this coming season. Jaxon Wells is a rising 8th-grader with an uncommonly large frame. He is freakishly strong, freakishly powerful, and freakishly explosive. He is also freakishly good at football. He will be among the most talked about 8th graders in the commonwealth this next Fall as his middle school program battles and contends for its 10th title at that level of play. Bryan Ford is a guy who hasn’t done it YET under the Friday Night Lights. He got three games of “varsity run” in ’22 and is looking to substantially add to that number in ’23. He has a look about him we like. Looking into the future, we see stardom on the horizon. FL.

There wasn’t much about Kentucky’s offensive performance versus Tennessee in the Future Stars Classic which we didn’t find…offensive, frankly. If there was a bright spot it was the play of Braden Myers from Pulaski County, Kentucky. Myers snap arrived on a pulse beat all afternoon, every single time, exactly where you would want it. He manned the A-gap, a hot bed of activity along any front so well you forgot he was out there and he showed great mobility moving down to the second level to pick up big blocks for Kentucky there. This kid firmly established that the formerly two man race for the class’s top offensive center between Bracken Castle and Matt Alex Ladd is now firmly a three man race and there may be a new leader in the clubhouse.
