This usually is a pretty fun article. A few days ago we posted the “KPGFootball Scorecard.” On that document we memorialized the matchup and just who we believed would win and why. What we do in the scorecard is give you the solution. What we don’t do is demonstrate how we worked the problem. Thursdays, during the football season, we often publish an article which “shows our math.” If you read this article you will see why we picked the teams we picked to win and why we picked the teams we picked to lose. You may not agree and that is okay. We are wrong between 10-15% of the time. It makes for fine reading and generous discussion. Enjoy the article.

We are very pleased to welcome Lasaters Coffee & Tea to our growing family of advertisers. The Kelley family has a very long history in the local football industry and several of the Kelleys have had their numbers retired owing to their familial history of playing excellence. Football has been very good to their family and they look for ways to give back to this very special community. Lasaters is a place one goes to get caffeinated and motivated and couldn’t we all use a bit more of that invigoration in our daily routines. Get by one (1) of our four (4) Christian County, Kentucky locations and enjoy the roasted flavor of a hot cup of warmth and love. Lasaters, where you aren’t just served; you’re loved.

Max Sturm, from McCracken, ready for an expanded role on the ’26 roster @MCHFC_Brooks78, @MaxSturm09, @racersfootball, @eCampusdotcom, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @bigassfans

Max Sturm is among the best DBs in the ’28 graduating class particularly in western Kentucky. Sturm registered 56-tackles, a pair of TFLs, a FF, and an INT in the 10-games of PT he got as a sophomore. Sturm figures to be a starter in 2026 from night one, snap one. Finding the field as a sophomore is a “good sign” for those hoping to move on to next level success. We would like to see Sturm on the offensive side some more this coming season. The 5’10,” 160-pounder sports a 250-pound bench press and squats 385. He has plenty of strength and explosion to be a steady hand on offense and a three-phase performer on a 6A roster, something not easy to do. This kid’s 4.0-GPA makes him an easy take for many of the colleges around the commonwealth fielding college football teams. Enjoy the feature.

Slow Motion Replay: Jack Haskins rode off into history, like one tin soldier @McCrackenStangs, @pths_football, @TCEonSGPN, @KyHighFootball, @khsaafootball, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans

This may prove to be the longest article of the series. This is already the longest series in magazine history. It is something else too. It is the most important undertaking we have ever before attempted. It is critically important we remember this guys before they fade into the dustbin of our collective memories. Jack Haskins did something in WKY we thought we would see. In a sea of “ground and pound” offenses and steady, “crowd the run box” defenses, Haskins filled the Friday Night air with leather. Of course, when you have 1989’s “Mr. Football” at QB, Pookie Jones, you have to incorporate an offensive system which complements your personnel. That is what Haskins did at Calloway County and the landscape, out west, has never looked the same. Enjoy this installment of this series featuring a guy who was a revolutionary, offensively, to the KHSAA game.

Here is a kid who has committed 110% to play football for the Georgetown College Tigers football program. Now, that is a pretty darn good week all by itself. Well, turns out, this kid’s on filed gameplay in ’22 was pretty praise worthy with or without Georgetown’s offer. Enjoy this feature from Kentucky’s fastest growing financial institution; setting the standard for excellence in the financial services, Kentucky market. Fletcher Long.
