Marvin Dantzler has done it all from a stand point of coaching. He has won championships from Track & Field to football. He has trained plenty of tremendous athletes along the way. Add the name “Jalen Dantzler” to the list. Jalen is his son but he is much more than that. Jalen Dantzler is among the best DB prospects in the KHSAA’s class of 2027. He is a speedster who is athletic enough to be among the best long jumpers in the high school ranks. Dantzler is getting a ton of D-1 looks and we are flat looking and evaluating him too. Gary Daugherty, Jr from Central High is a ’27 looking for opportunity to prove himself @45pro6lems, @CoachDantzler, @khsaafootball, @bigassfans, @minguabeefjerky, @KyHighFootball

June 17, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

There are tons of players of whom you know absolutely nothing who will hit the field this fall and bedazzle you with their brilliance. We see it season after season. However, at KPGFootball we feel the term “expertise” requires something of us. We like to get out and look at the up and coming kids and predict which of these kids will be future stars before anyone else. We believe Gary Daugherty, Jr. from Central High has the frame and the brains to emerge from the summer camp/combine circuit with an opportunity to show everyone what he can really do. We think the show may prove breathtaking. Enjoy this feature and let’s sit on this a second and see if we don’t prove ourselves correct, yet another time!

Slow Motion Replay: William Kean, Central High, Floated like a Butterfly and Stung like a Yellowjacket @CHSJacketFB, @MuhammadAli, @KyChamber, @KyHighFootball, @khsaafootball, @bigassfans, @minguabeefjerky

Bill Kean coached at Central High in Louisville at a time when the Yellowjackets, because of the segregated school systems in Kentucky at the time, wouldn’t let Central compete with the “white” schools. Kean won five (5) Kentucky High School Athletic League (KHSAL) titles, and won four (4) National Negro High School titles and his 856-wins in basketball, coupled with his 225-wins in football, may make Bill Kean the winningest coach in the history of Kentucky high school sports. Enjoy this look at a guy who was posthumously inducted into the KHSAA Hall of Fame in 1988, thirty years after his death.

Slow Motion Replay: Marvin Dantzler has made a career doing the hard right over the easy wrong and winning the day!

April 18, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

We talk often about the versatility of the player we feature on this site. How about coaching versatility? Coach Marvin Dantzler has won a KHSAA title (Central, 2018) to go with two OSSAA titles at John Marshall High in Oklahoma City (2010, 2011) in Track & Field. In football, to go with the title in 2018, Dantzler’s teams have made six (6) semis, won six (6) regions, and made 13-playoff appearances. Dantzler has been the Oklahoman COY twice, Regional COY, OTCA COY, Tulsa World COY, and a four (4) time KHSAA District COY. If he isn’t one of Kentucky’s all-timers, he soon will be. We think the time for him is RIGHT NOW! Enjoy this feature.

Friday Night Fletch.

Slow Motion Replay: Ty Scroggins believed, and it made a Hell of a difference @FtbllHSC, @CoachDantzler, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans

March 16, 2025 Fletcher Long 1

Ty Scroggins had an incredible decade long run as the head football coach at Central High. In 10-years he won 10-districts, appeared in 8-semis, 7-title games, and won 5-titles. Scroggins left Central to be an assistant at St. Francis DeSales to spend more time with family and particularly his son. Scroggins made believers out of his teams, his players, his cohorts, even men serving in the administration of the KHSAA. Along the way, he made us all believers. Enjoy this look back at one of Kentucky’s all-timers, taken from us way too soon.

He has his Cougars playing football at an incredibly high level and looking every bit like 5A threats coming down the season’s home stretch. RB Cortez Stone, from Central High (Louisville), is the @minguabeefjerky Protein-packed Performer of the Week @8gocrazzyyRB @AlPopsFootball @KyHighFootball

August 6, 2024 Fletcher Long 0

This is a kid many believe may be the definitive running back in the commonwealth of Kentucky in the class of ’25. He gained close to 1,900 yards a year ago and added another couple hundred receiving. His Central team is yearly in the running for a title in its classification and we don’t believe ’24 will be any different. Enjoy this feature and and don’t forget to #SavorTheFlavor. Friday Night Fletch.

Preseason Top Five in 3A plus a few more @BelfryFootball1, @TriggFootball, @centurions_fb, @CHSJacketFB, @echsfb, @LexCath @AlPopFootball @840WHAS @sfitz_840whas

July 26, 2024 Fletcher Long 1

Well, it is time for us to pick the 3A classification and how it will “shake out” this coming Fall. We could take the coward’s way out and pick last year’s champion, Christian Academy-Louisville, to repeat. Instead, we took the coward’s way out and picked eight-time title holder, Belfry. Enjoy. Friday Night Fletch.

Steve Smith, ’25 QB from Central High, is the @1776Bank Revolutionary Player of the Week @CoachDantzler @Steve2mith @840WHAS @minguabeefjerky

Cortez Stone, ’25 RB, has his Yellow Jackets ‘sting-crazy’ and headed to Russellville. Cortez Stone was the best RB in Kentucky as a freshman among ’25’s in our opinion. He hasn’t slumped any this sophomore season either. In round two he carried his team to a convincing victory. How much farther can he carry the Yellow Jackets? Don’t know, that road through Russellville and Logan County High is a killer.
