Markezz Hightower maybe this season’s Cortez Stone (Central High, Lou., ’25). What do we mean? We mean Hightower might be Kentucky’s elite RB in the commonwealth at any classification of competition. Hightower is 5’10,” 185-pounds who clips off the 40 in the 4.5 range with a vertical (35-inches) that collaborates the running time. Hightower clips off the 100-meters in 11-seconds, squats 450, deadlifts 515, and cleans 230. He may be Mr. Football, or so we think anyway. Enjoy this feature on a kid who we support for “Mr. Football” and who should be in the thick of the race all season long provided he continues to produce at a similar clip to his first three seasons.

KPGFootball’s Preseason Top-Five (3A) @bigassfans, @minguabeefjerky, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball

It is that time of year. It is time to start figuring which teams, entering the ’25 season, figure to factor in the title chase. We have detailed what we think here and it is based on our study of the incoming, ’25 rosters, what players return, what players graduated, and other various factors we have perfected through the years to render such predictions. We plan to do this for all of Kentucky’s six (6) classifications and there is no guarantee we will go in order from the top down, or the bottom to the top. There are good football teams in the KHSAA and there are bad ones and those teams span all of the six classes. Enjoy today’s look at 3A. Keep checking back as we may drop another class any time we feel like it.

Gary Daugherty, Jr from Central High is a ’27 looking for opportunity to prove himself @45pro6lems, @CoachDantzler, @khsaafootball, @bigassfans, @minguabeefjerky, @KyHighFootball

There are tons of players of whom you know absolutely nothing who will hit the field this fall and bedazzle you with their brilliance. We see it season after season. However, at KPGFootball we feel the term “expertise” requires something of us. We like to get out and look at the up and coming kids and predict which of these kids will be future stars before anyone else. We believe Gary Daugherty, Jr. from Central High has the frame and the brains to emerge from the summer camp/combine circuit with an opportunity to show everyone what he can really do. We think the show may prove breathtaking. Enjoy this feature and let’s sit on this a second and see if we don’t prove ourselves correct, yet another time!

Zai’Vion Meads from Central High (Lou.) is the @bigassfans Kentucky Comfort Creator of the Week and Ziggy tells opponents what you see is what you get @Tmalone0, @Aspirationsgym, @CoachDantzler, @Ziggy41_, @minguabeefjerky, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball

Zai’Vion Meads has been working out with Aspirations Gym this offseason. Aspirations Gym proprietor, Chris Vaughn, has been working out Louisville’s elite athletes for a long time, as long as we have been covering this sport. Vaugh has Meads “looking right.” Meads has exploded the myth the camera adds weight as he looks good live, or on film. Today, we award this prestigious, weekly distinction to one of the Derby City’s better DL prospects playing for one of Louisville’s deeper and most talented rosters. Enjoy the feature and let’s keep it comfortable out there, Kentucky!

We have written about Cortez Stone for years. We also were among the very first to recognize him as ’25’s top running back, commonwealth-wide. His junior season hasn’t been changing anyone’s mind around our offices. Enjoy the feature. FL.

Cortez Stone, ’25 RB, has his Yellow Jackets ‘sting-crazy’ and headed to Russellville. Stone is also the @minguabeefjerky ‘Protein-packed Performer’ of the Week. @DLCoach_Danford @LippertScouting @austin_rayno @coachadler @Coach_CotterLWC @BryanAult @RyanRayno3 @1776Bank @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball @kyhighs @HLpreps @MaxPreps @8gocrazzyy @teeroyhowell @CHSJacketFB @loucentralsport @CHSJACKETS

Cortez Stone was the best RB in Kentucky as a freshman among ’25’s in our opinion. He hasn’t slumped any this sophomore season either. In round two he carried his team to a convincing victory. How much farther can he carry the Yellow Jackets? Don’t know, that road through Russellville and Logan County High is a killer. The future is now for @DjMudd5 (Damarien Mudd) from @LouisvilleCHS. @1776Bank @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @MaxPreps @KyHighFootball

Damarien Mudd is an up and comer with a bright future playing for Louisville’s Central High. He is a track star, in addition to what he does on the football field. He didn’t get a ton of run in ’20 but we would expect him to be an active part of the team’s efforts in the Fall of ’22 and thereafter. Enjoy this look at a kid who will be a junior next year. HB.
