We are going to have to start calling them the “Heartbreak Wildcats” pretty soon if things don’t start trending differently. Trigg County has dropped consecutive, one-point defeats to the toughest of competition under very strange and almost lightening-striking-ish type situations. Still, the play the team is getting from its sophomore QB is extraordinary. Cade Scott is a superlatively good, three sport, varsity athlete who excels at FB (QB), basketball (SG), and baseball (OF/LHP). He is completing nearly 75% of his passing attempts and putting the offense in situations where it should and, often has, thrived. Cade Scott has everything big-time programs covet among QBs. He is tall (6’5″), well put together (200-pounds), with plenty of bounce (varsity basketball star) and a versatile skill set athletically and intellectually (4.14 GPA). Scott, like so many other Kentuckians, is a football/basketball combo guy who several D-1s are noticing, including the three (3) who have already offered. Timmy Williams, a ’28 athlete and quarterback, came out of the middle school ranks among the more ballyhooed prospects the western Kentucky MS ranks could muster. Williams was off to a fast start when he got derailed by injury in the second week. If this guy can stay healthy, he could have a really solid sophomore campaign. So could the Trigg County Wildcats who have stepped down to 2A and will now face Mighty Mayfield on a yearly basis.

Central finds itself exactly where it was a year ago. However, this time just feels differently. The Storm pushed McLean to overtime before bowing out gracefully, 48-46, and Fort Campbell’s beating North has taught us all a little something about never quitting before the combatants even take the field. We like Central to win this game and set its ’24 record at 3-5 heading into the final two. Enjoy the feature.

Cade Scott is raring to go and improve on what his teammates and he did in ’23. The Green Wave were quick out of the gate, winning five of the first six, then faded down the stretch, losing one of its last games by a solitary point to Pleasure Ridge Park (Lou.). Scott is a 6’5,” 200 pound QB who can play LB (if need be) and punts. He is also a varsity B-Baller.
