Friday Night Fletch has become a commonwealth-wide phenomenon in high school football circles. Frankly and succinctly put, Fletcher Long knows twice as much about the world of KHSAA football as any one person alive today. He is an expert; he has done the work. Enjoy this article and let’s see Friday night how right or wrong he was.

Montavin Quisenberry, or “Q” as we call him around our offices, is the best football player in Kentucky’s ’25 graduating class. We have thought this for around three years, since back in his Garrard County days, and he has done nothing to dispel this belief. His night against Frederick Douglass, we felt, was jerky worthy. We could give him this award every week. Enjoy this feature and pop some of Kentucky’s finest jerky products in your mouth and savor the flavor! #SavorTheFlavor! Friday Night Fletch.

When you get to Kentucky 4A, that is the first class generally denoted as “Big Boy Football” within the commonwealth. For instance, players playing two-ways or “iron man football” at the 4A level or higher gets increasingly rare. Here is our best guess concerning how this classification shakes out this coming season. Enjoy! HB.

Sometimes the winner of this award doesn’t have the “stand alone numbers” one generally sees from his position group. However, Mingua Beef Jerky also prizes players who invent ways to make things happen even when the opposing defense is trying desperately to take away from that player what he generally contributes. Such was the case Friday night in the Mingua Beef Jerky Bowl. Boyle County’s Jagger Gillis had an extraordinary performance, though in an out of the ordinary sort of way. Nevertheless, we believe you will find his contributions more than deserving. We did. Enjoy the feature and join us again next week as we do all of this again. HB.

The featured photograph is of Corithian Seales-Portee of Union County. He had a really great night last Friday and he certainly wasn’t alone. By the way, this photograph was taken by Allison Evans for “The Crittenden Press.” Enjoy this regularly appearing series, “In the Running,” to learn more about “who is doing what” around the commonwealth.
