Every year we like Owensboro Catholic to challenge for a title in 2A. Every year they seem to do just that before dropping a game in a late round. Last year, the Aces had the ball, down five, with a chance to go down the field and win the title and fell just shy of the mark. We like these guys to “do it” in ’24. We are taking them to win it. Brady Atwell is no stranger to fame. He also is not stranger to this award, having before winning it in August of 2023. He enters ’24 the favorite to win Mr. Football. Brody Hunt has his Bears right in the thick of things these days in the always tough 2nd District. Hancock, McLean, and Todd County Central are all playing lights out and Owensboro Catholic has settled into its accustomed role of 2nd District “Bully.” The team which has commonly been the “odd man out” is now playing lights out. Do the Bears have to beat the Rebels from. Todd County to get in the playoffs this year? Independence Bank is proud to sponsor a weekly article highlighting players in the areas where Independence Bank flourishes who embody the same type of revolutionary service to their respective football teams which has made Independence Bank unique and special in the banking industry. This week’s recipient is a quarterback who is a coveted and talented backfield star for the Aces from Owensboro Catholic High School. His efforts really made the Aces’ offense roll.
