🎶And it seems to me you lived your life/Like a candle in the wind…🎶
Elton John, Bernie Taupin, 1973
We have written this serial article covering the Hopkins County Central Storm football program for three (3) years/seasons. Truth is, we have enjoyed each and every minute of it. Through the years we have been treated well on Morton’s Gap, supported and appreciated, and have come to think of the program as family friends. It has been a great run. Kind of like the run Isac Earl and the other seniors have had playing football for the Storm. We don’t know the future of this article. Our friendship with Chris Manning has fueled the relationship and sparked our interest in the coverage. With Manning stepping down, who knows if the new head man will even see the value in what we provide. Whether we cover this team going forward or not; it has been an honor and one heck of an experience; one heck of a ride. Goodbye seniors and goodbye Isac Earl. 🎶You had the grace to hold yourself/ While those around you crawled…🎶

Morton’s Gap, KY: This is a tough time of year for us at the magazine. Each winter, upon the completion of the season’s coverage and before we get full throttle into our offseason stuff, we have to say goodbye to players we feel like we watched “grow up.”
These men have been on quit a journey. We have had the privilege of traveling along with them.
The wonderful thing about this job is we never run out of new classes of stud football players and athletes, year after year. The new class of varsity stars sweep into our sandy beaches endlessly; as the ocean’s waves crash against our shores.
Then, there are the seniors. Then there are the farewells and the “…we’ll be watching and can’t wait to see what you do next” expressions which are legitimate, which are entirely sincere.
We do watch. We are certainly and persistently impressed.
What is there to say about Isac Earl. Earl has done everything asked of him and all with an Errol Flynn-type flair and gusto.

Earl this year was second on the team in passing and passing TDs. Earl was third on the team in rushing and tied for second in rushing TDs.

Earl was first on the team in receiving yards and touchdowns while second in receptions. Earl was second on the team in scoring.
On defense, Earl registered 18-tackles, two (2)TFLs, while leading the team in FFs and FRs. Earl was second on the team in INTs, first in IRNYs, and housed the club’s only “pick six,” making him first in that category owing to his being the only.
If one were to sit down and contemplate the full expanse of all we have above set forth, it would take one’s breath. It literally boggles the mind, this kid’s prolific production and versatility…this kid’s athleticism.
I don’t know if we spilt enough ink about this kid over the course of his career. I don’t know that Earl ever got his due, a full measure or appreciation for all he actually contributed.
Read our recitation of his senior year contributions alone. Go back and review what he contributed over the four years he toiled on the Storm’s varsity roster. Afterward, revel in the breathlessness of your memories; revel in the degree to which it renders one dizzy, speechless.
Thanks for the memories. We’ll be watching. We’ll be waiting.
