There is no better time than the present to anoint another Independence Bank Player of the Week. Independence Bank is proud to sponsor a weekly article highlighting players in the areas where Independence Bank flourishes who embody the same type of revolutionary service to their respective football teams which has made Independence Bank unique and special in the banking industry.
Independence Bank has a goal of achieving everyday excellence, and this week we are focusing on a player who, though only sophomore, is still leading one of Kentucky’s hottest teams to what is, presently, an unblemished record heading into what the schedule claims to be a bye-week for the Hornets. This Class of 2023 standout is killing it in 2020 and, with all the young talent on the Hancock County roster, things are certainly looking up for the Hornets’ program. This week we are focusing on Class of 2023 RB, Logan Willis, who doubles, though sparingly, as a linebacker on defense.
Willis’s Hancock County High School is located just 3.14-miles down the road from an Independence Bank branch located on 225 US Highway 60-East in Hawesville, Kentucky. Go on down and see our friends at Independence Bank and give them both the opportunity and privilege to earn your business and demonstrate what makes them the best in the banking business and the fastest growing financial institution in Kentucky.
Everyone is familiar with the two, Class of 2023 superstars Hancock County boasts on the roster. Xander Early and Cole Dixon, both former Team Kentuckians, have really improved the fortunes of the Hornets’ football program and have a lot to do with the present team’s 4-0 start. They have helped improve the programs fortunes from one battling for third in the district to one now battling Catholic (Owensboro) for the title this season.
We will see how that battle resolves after Hancock’s bye-week. They get Catholic at home October 16.
There is another hot-shot in that class and his name is Logan Willis. Willis provided important “ground punch” for the Hornets when they traveled to contest a game and tough Todd County Central squad who is proving to be much better than many believed they would be preseason.
Last Friday night, Hancock County invaded Elkton, Kentucky with an unblemished record and an offense averaging over 30 a night. One of those two numbers took a hit.
While Hancock was able to “survive,” 20-14, they only managed 20-points against a tough Rebel defense which has developed the ability to keep the Rebels in games. Willis had 97-tough-yards on 22 carries, with a TD. His one score may have (arguably) comprised last Friday’s margin of victory for his Hornets.
On the year, Willis has been equally impressive. He has gained, in four games thus far, 370-yards in 58-carries with 3 rushing TDs.
Congratulations to Logan Willis, both for his Revolutionary Play over the first four games and, particularly, for what he did to help his team overcome Todd County Central last Friday night, all of which has earned him this week’s recognition.
