Is @ConyerC2 (Cristian Conyer) from @SouthWarrenFB the top-rated ’23 in @KyHighFootball? @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @MaxPreps @1776Bank

Some questions we pose are rhetorical. Any query about where Cristian Conyer might rank among Kentucky, high school prospects is just such an inquiry.

Rivals has Conyer from South Warren ranked as a 4-star recruit. 247Sports.com has him Kentucky’s 2nd highest rated player in-state. Tennessee has him as perhaps the very top of its wish-list at cornerback for his graduating class anywhere across the country.

Clearly Conyer is the tip of the top in Kentucky’s ’23 high school class of football prospects. We’ve been on him for quite a while.

You may not remember this but we featured Conyer when he was coming out of Bowling Green Junior High. May 15, 2019 was the date of that first article and we dubbed him “C-Squared” at the time.

We still call him that around the magazine. Coaches around Kentucky are calling him lots of other stuff.

He’s been called “unstoppable,” “the best football player in Kentucky’s high school game,” “a must get defensive back” by numerous college coaches, and many other adjectives each more flattering than the last. Before this thing is said and done, he may be called “Mr. Football.”

Conyer is listed at 6-2 and weighs 175-pounds. While listed as an athlete, Conyer can play all over the field on either side of the ball. When asked if there was a preference on where he played, the young prospect told journalist Dale Dowden with SI.com, “DB, but I’m willing to play where ever the coaching staff needs me.”

C-Squared doggedly pursued by UT

Conyer has primarily played WR/DB while at South Warren. We predicted he was going to be a major star at the high school level when he rushed for 1,252-yards and 12-TDs on 127-carries coming out of 8th-grade for Bowling Green Junior High.

C-Squared’s being selected to the Offense-Defense All-American team and Team Kentucky Future Stars multiple times sort of “told the tale” concerning his projected future success. Conyer’s high school career has been nothing short of an extension and fulfillment of the weighty expectations concerning this prospect when he was leaving one level of football at which he had proven dominant to begin a maiden voyage into another.

Coming full circle on the question we posed in the title to this piece, is C-Squared the best football player in Kentucky’s ’23 graduating class? You tell us!
