Tigers break from KHSAA schedule to host intersectional action
Hopkinsville High School has some pieces which add up to a very nice looking, overall picture. In its last season of competition, the Tigers are committed to going out on one heck of a stand, one heck of a statement before ceasing all operations to merge with the cross-town school. Something tells me we will miss these days before too long. The Tigers break from traditional, KHSAA competition to entertain the Prosser Career Academy from Chicago, IL. The Falcons are 1-0 and coming off the team’s first playoff appearance (2024) in a couple of decades. This should make for a fun Saturday night.

Hopkinsville, KY: It isn’t uncommon for Kentucky high schools to entertain rivals from bordering states. Mt. Carmel in Chicago plays Trinity and Saint Xavier with some regularity and just played an Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati) team which beat Trinity (24-21) last night.
Mt. Carmel is the highest rated football program in Illinois and the 62nd rated team in America. Trinity’s Friday night opponent, Archbishop Moeller, is the 2nd rated team in Ohio and the 65th rated team in America.

Neither team should be confused for the Prosser Career Academy. Prosser is rated 12,045th in the country and 446th in Illinois.
Does that mean what it appears to mean this early in the season? We aren’t too sure how to answer that, but we don’t think so.
These teams have played from one to two games so far this season. How could we possibly know, at this point in the year, who is good or isn’t? The point is…it’s highly speculative.
On paper, the Tigers are a decidedly better team than the public school team from Chicago, Illinois with the private school sounding name. The Tigers are ranked by MaxPreps the 6,762nd highest rated team in America and the 88th best team in the commonwealth of Kentucky. Again, how MaxPreps would know this is beyond me and we don’t believe there are 87-football teams in Kentucky able to beat the Tigers.
We do know MaxPreps uses the CalPreps.com algorithm to rank teams, first to last. In today’s day and time, blame an algorithm; that seems to always work.
Hoptown is 1-1, Prosser is 1-0

HHS is 1-1, beating the death out of Stratford High (Nashville, TN) 49-13 and getting beat by Madisonville North Hopkins, 42-19. Prosser is 1-0, beating the Proviso East Pirates in its opener 19-7.

We talked to Madisonville’s coach, Chris “CP” Price. Price told KPGFootball that, “I think the Tigers found something in our game when they put the McCarley kid at QB. He did some good things for the Tigers and let them get the Bradley kid out in space and find more ways to get him the football with opportunities to do more things.”
Jasiah McCarley (’28) has thrown for 217-yards and 3-TDs through two games. James Bradley Jr. (’26) has rushed for 258-yards, 3-TDs, caught a TD pass, is tied for the team lead in scoring (24-points), and among the leaders in tackles.
You ever wonder what makes the Bradley kid a D-1 candidate? Now you know!
Aiden Jesse (’26) leads the team in receiving, receiving TDs, tied for the team lead in scoring (24), and is the team leader in INTs. Ever wonder what makes Jesse a D-1 candidate? Now (again) you know!
Both of these kids have good length, athleticism, versatility, football IQ, and are (otherwise) framed out well for where they play primarily. It’s the ability to use them all over the field, on multiple sides of the football, which creates a perceived value in each of the players from college programs.
The perceptions are entirely legitimate. They are both very valuable pieces on any chess board.
Foster Jackson (’26) is leading the team in tackles (21), TFLs (4), and sacks (2.5). This kid is all over the field and is gaining quite a bit of notice among area programs and people with post season, All-Star ballots.
Hakim Skanes (’27) has 2-TFLs, 1.5-sacks, a-FF, and a-FR. Skanes has enviable length and twitch and is showing he knows exactly what to do with it.
We bring this up to bring up the fact the Tigers have a ton of weapons, have a ton to play for in its last football season ever, and are playing a team which has traveled close to 400-miles to play this game. Reading those tea leaves it seems to spell out a lopsided victory tonight for the Tigers.
KPGFootball likes the Tigers to win this game 38-7 over the Falcons!
