There is a clip you, as fans of the high school game need to see. It is on Christian Ponce’s Hudl page and we have linked that under his photo to the right of this article. Ponce is number 51.

In the clip, Ponce picks up a loose ball and scampers into the end zone. Why do we want you to see it? We want you to see it because Ponce is a nose guard by trade, and likely at the next level too, and we want to show you his bend and speed.

Point is he moves like a college nose, not a high school nose. Here’s the individual play, look for your self.

We think that is where Ponce is headed. We believe he is headed to college and we believe he will play nose when he gets there.

There is plenty of data which supports our belief. For one, the ’23 prospect has done quite a bit of work in the weight room.

Ponce, who is 6-0 and weighs 260-pounds, bench presses just south of 300 and squats a cool 480. He power cleans 220 to go along with his other numbers which are above average for his position group among Kentucky players.

Ponce is powerful and gets off the ball quickly. He plays with excellent leverage and leg-kick and plays through the whistle.

In case you couldn’t figure it out, we like this prospect very much, particularly at the nose. We would say this guy will “Ponce” on the competition over his senior season upcoming. Do you see what we did there?
