Saturday Night’s Weekly Winners…

August 19, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

We picked our Friday night “Winners” two days ago. We promised we would come back as the weekend drew nigher and pick the Saturday “Winners” too. Now we have done just that. Let the debate rage.

It’s time for weekly winners…here are some of our predictions concerning games of interest to kick-off August 23rd…

Throughout the season we pick weekly winners. It was one of our more popular segments a year ago. This year we will decide which games we cover based on our “hits.” Read us, you get covered. Ignore us, we ignore you. These are some Friday night match-ups in areas where we get a lot of views. We will come back in and pick some interesting Saturday night games later in the week.

With Feese’s transfer to Russell, this is one time the Feese family won’t be answering the Indian’s smoke signals for help!

With the season right upon us, we like looking at the freshman from around the commonwealth of Kentucky we think will see the field early. We think Colton Feese is someone sure to hit the field early and probably at QB with the departure of senior Grant Wilburn from Russell last season, and possibly immediately. They really are going to need help at QB for Russell to experience the same type season it enjoyed in 2018 this coming year. When Columbians look to find football players, the Feese family used to always answer the Indians’ call. This time around it will be the Red Devils from Russell Springs, Kentucky hitting the Feese jackpot.

Hopkinsville’s Denarius “Red” Barnes (2020) is the Meeks & Meeks Montgomery County area Player of the Week

August 16, 2019 Fletcher Long 0

Red Barnes has been a favorite of ours since he transferred to HHS from Wonder Junior High in West Memphis, Arkansas to play his sophomore season. He is one of the best defensive linemen in the Class of 2020 and one of its leading citizens too. This is a kid who we believe is a college football player (no doubt) but isn’t likely to be positioned in college where the Tigers have deployed him. The fact he has thrived along an even defensive front, though undersized, buttresses everything good about his ability we have consistently maintained. This kid is a winner and a player who makes teams for which he plays better teams. Can’t complement any young player anymore than that. Enjoy the article.

McLean County’s Cody Wilson is the Independence Bank Revolutionary Player of the Week

August 15, 2019 Fletcher Long 0

Congratulations to Cody Wilson for being this week’s Independence Bank Revolutionary Player of the Week. This is a OL/DL player who only played in two games a year ago, but hey, give him a break, he was only a freshman. We believe he will see the field much more frequently in 2019. Enjoy this article about a kid we believe will be taking flight in 2019 and we track and report on such things with some frequency. Join us next week for another selection.

As scrimmages conclude, and the season looms, how much significance should we apportion any scrimmage outcome? (Featured Photograph: Emily Ball/Bluefield Daily Telegraph)

Scrimmage results are flying across chat rooms, newspaper headlines, and blogs all over the commonwealth of Kentucky. The winners believe it is a credible forecast of success, the losers either believe the team was trying to “not show too much” or it is a forecast of a forthcoming “long year.” Well, truthfully, neither is true. Enjoy this article about scrimmages and why the outcome shouldn’t either dampen or intensify your seasonal expectations.

Are teams scared to play the Todd County Middle School Rebels?

Spencer County’s Jamarion Smith (@Jizzlesmith5), Class of 2022…We think he’s for-izzle, my-jizzle!

August 13, 2019 Henry Lyon 1

Well, this young prospect is obviously a Snoop Dogg fan. So are we. He’s also Kadin Smith’s little brother and we remember how much of a stud Kadin was in high school before being recruited to play football in the Big-10 for Purdue. Well, Jamarion appears set to launch on a similar flight trajectory. It is coming up on his sophomore year and he has already clocked 40’s in the 4.5’s. It appears it is his time, and with Spencer County coming off a 4-6 year, that time can’t come any sooner for the Bears faithful. Enjoy the article about Jay the Jet.

Class of 2020’s Andrew Long, (@drew_long16) the pride of both the Long family and LCA

August 12, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

Andrew Long’s play has Longs all over the commonwealth of Kentucky claiming relation to him, whether they believe themselves to really be kin or not. Someone making themselves a star will do that. Andrew Long is a star football player and high school linebacker with an incredibly high ceiling and incredible production from his junior campaign (2018). Check out this article about one of the very best LBs in the 2A classification and in Kentucky’s Class of 2020.
