Daviess County had a tough season a year ago. That is why Quadarius Wallace was brought in to right the ship. The first thing Coach Wallace will have to address is filling the post at QB, post-Remington Davis. It is a good thing rising senior, Garrison Barker got the run a year ago he did. We believe Barker will seamlessly slip into the QB-1 role. We also believe Daviess County will make definitive strides from last season to this one. Enjoy this feature about a kid whose performance made the unbearable heat a tad more bearable and who hopes his performance brings comfort to the home fans around Daviess County, KY this upcoming Fall. In latin the practice was know as Damnatio ad bestias, losely translated “Condemnation to beats.” You would know it as throwing “Christians to the Lions” and it was a form of capital punishment where the condemned person was killed by wild animals, usually lions or other big cat. No one is practicing this today, but the vernacular of “Throwing (one) to the lions” has modern day usage usually akin to a young player being thrust into action earlier than a coach would like. Well, no one is throwing this particular “Khristian” anywhere. This guy plans on making a real impact his senior season on Morton’s Gap and then sliding somewhere for some college football. The way he is built, don’t bet against him.

I know we just featured this kid, but it isn’t uncommon for us to feature a kid and turn immediately around and send him some protein. Check the historical record. it has been before done. This kid’s achievements in the weight room alone, and the hard work he has put in during his off-seasons, is enough to warrant this type recognition. We have a story for you today about a young man in Glasgow, Kentucky who may be built simmerly to Achilles, but who is just a mortal guy learning the football craft. Cam Alsip is the type of high school player we LOVE to cover. He’s a hard worker, kills it in the weight room, all the while looking like a mild mannered, Academic team member. Yeah, Clark Kent didn’t look like much either, at least not in glasses. This kid is busting his tail to get better and it will translate onto the field. With 15-TFLs, 6.5 sacks, and five (5) FFs in ’24, how much better can this kid possibly get? I feel sorry for the kids trying to block this monster. Enjoy the feature.

Slow Motion Replay: Marvin Dantzler has made a career doing the hard right over the easy wrong and winning the day!

We talk often about the versatility of the player we feature on this site. How about coaching versatility? Coach Marvin Dantzler has won a KHSAA title (Central, 2018) to go with two OSSAA titles at John Marshall High in Oklahoma City (2010, 2011) in Track & Field. In football, to go with the title in 2018, Dantzler’s teams have made six (6) semis, won six (6) regions, and made 13-playoff appearances. Dantzler has been the Oklahoman COY twice, Regional COY, OTCA COY, Tulsa World COY, and a four (4) time KHSAA District COY. If he isn’t one of Kentucky’s all-timers, he soon will be. We think the time for him is RIGHT NOW! Enjoy this feature.

Donaldson has an interesting motto, and one we whole heartedly support. His motto is “Roam the Field, Never Yield.” Heck yeah, young stud! That is what you want from a guy who is playing DB/some Nickel, and SS. That is what you want from a two-year starter heading into his third year. That is what you, as a coach, definitely want from a senior leader. Things have been looking up for the Doss Dragons. They were 7-4 a year ago and dropped a four-pointer to Spencer County in the opening round of the playoffs. Lots of weapons return. We like Doss heading into the race for the District 3 crown. Tripp Setliff is a guy we saw quite a bit from on the Future Stars circuit. He played on the KY Future Stars team in seventh and eighth grade. He is a hulking interior guy who has done quite a bit of work on his feet, speed, spacial quicks, and explosion. He is rounding into a top-flight interior OL in the KY/WV area and is at Huntington High presently. Could we see this kid migrate down south to play for a Kentucky High School? Well, you know anything is possible and very similar like moves have been before tried and successfully. Enjoy this feature.
