Breathitt middle school is for real and really in the title hunt!

Breathitt Middle has beaten Meece (14-8) and Johnson County (20-8) in successive game and are entering the KYMSFA playoff seeded second in its region (behind a team it has already beaten) and undefeated. They boast two of the best players in the Class of 2025 in top-dog, Kory Combs, and big man, Sawyer Hall. Look out KYMSFA-title, the ‘Cats are coming for you! This young man is an excellent player along an odd front as a nose. He may have a future along the interior as an offensive lineman too in college where his defensive background will be viewed as a “plus.” Historically, converted defensive linemen make for more aggressive offensive linemen who are better finishers. We first wrote about this prospect in an article entitled “Russellville Rolls when the Rooster Crows.” Yeah, we were really proud of the title. We thought it enormously clever. That article was published April 15, 2017. Here it is, 2020, coming up on 2021, and we are still writing about this same player; and yes, we are still calling him “Rooster Woodard.” He has rounded into the type prospect we believed he would be all along.
