Central finds itself exactly where it was a year ago. However, this time just feels differently. The Storm pushed McLean to overtime before bowing out gracefully, 48-46, and Fort Campbell’s beating North has taught us all a little something about never quitting before the combatants even take the field. We like Central to win this game and set its ’24 record at 3-5 heading into the final two. Enjoy the feature.

Allen County-Scottsville (ACS) is killing it this season. The Patriots are 6-1 with a loss to Tilghman the only thing between it and a perfect record. The Patriots have beaten Glasgow, Franklin-Simpson, Logan County, and Warren East. We believe the Patriots have a nearly 90% chance of sliding into the playoffs 9-1. Won’t that be something?

David Turner is a player who has been mostly a defender for the 6A, District 5 Oldham County Colonels. Friday night, against Eastern, Coach Little decided to give his senior the ball and see what he would do. What he did was amazing. Enjoy this feature.

Kade Elam is a three-star, football prospect and is already committed to play Power 4, College baseball in the ACC with the Louisville Cardinals. Elam may be among the best athletes in the high school game as his play against Johnson Central demonstrated. Enjoy this feature.

LCA came out the gate slowly this season. Of course the 2A powerhouse opened with the best high school team in Kentucky (any classification), Boyle County, then followed that up with a six-point loss to an always tough Franklin County (4A). The Eagles are 5-0 since to include wins over the defending 1A champion (Pikeville) and the defending 3A champion (Christian Academy-Louisville). As we come down the regular season homestretch, the Eagles are looking every bit the container we expected to see.

We don’t even know what to say about the Storm after its impressive “beat down” of Webster County, 29-0. Manning made some changes to the deployment of personnel both on offense and defense to put kids in better positions to succeed and succeed they did. Tonight, the Storm will travel to Dixon, KY to take on an always tough, McLean County team. How do the Storm finish the final four of the regular season? Seems like we have been here before.

“Cherry” is a term with which we are familiar particularly in discussing vintage automobiles. Cherry is beginning to define excellent down lineman play for the Centurion defense, or that is what it meant this past Thursday night in the big road win at Manual High. Look out for these Centurions, 3A, they are getting their playoff legs ready for the running. Can’t wait to see what they do against Central in a few weeks.
