Connor Miles, a ’27 DE for the Storm, looks to have all the right measurements to thrive where slotted. Mile is a DE. Miles is 6’5″ tall. Miles weighs a slight, but thickening as he lifts and conditions, 215-pounds. Miles played some his sophomore year and did well when presented with opportunity. Coach Manning believes both Miles and Aaron Wells are growing into roles on his team. That means we should see much more from this prospect over the next couple of years than we have the first two. Aaron David Johnson, or “AD” as he is called around Perry County Central circles has been making some real, off-season strides. He is getting taller, getting thicker, getting stronger exhibiting more arm-strength, and getting much, much faster. This kid has got the home folks around Hazard, Kentucky going plumb crazy. We believe this kid, coming off a solid junior year under center, is poised to have quite the senior season. Together with “little brother” Bryson Johnson (“Mr. B”), these two have the Commodores from Perry County Central trending in an upward trajectory. We all know Phillip Haywood and Dudley Hilton are the two winningest football coaches in the KHSAA history. Haywood at 491 will be tough to catch but Hilton is 30 or so behind him and he’s still going strong. What about the guys who shone like bright, shining stars then moved on to “greener pastures.” Could some of those guys have been “the best?” Perhaps. Zai’Vion Meads has been working out with Aspirations Gym this offseason. Aspirations Gym proprietor, Chris Vaughn, has been working out Louisville’s elite athletes for a long time, as long as we have been covering this sport. Vaugh has Meads “looking right.” Meads has exploded the myth the camera adds weight as he looks good live, or on film. Today, we award this prestigious, weekly distinction to one of the Derby City’s better DL prospects playing for one of Louisville’s deeper and most talented rosters. We have a funny anecdote we will tell you about a guy who published a list of the “5 best LBers in Louisville” and included an 8th-grader from Oldham County. If you see me out somewhere, come up, and I will tell it to you. We put up a list of the best DCs in KHSAA history. It got over 15,000 “views” on Twitter/X. Jonny Lind from Covington Catholic has all the characteristics and measurements any college coach would want in a lineman coming out of high school. Lind who lists DE as his primary position is 6’3,” 264-pounds and was one of the Defensive MVPs of the Best of the Midwest Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana earlier this year. Lind had 30-tackles in 11-games, missing three (3) games owing to thumb surgery in the middle of his HS, sophomore season. This kid can play and plays for one of the premier programs in the commonwealth of Kentucky. Cameron Davis plays for one of the best football programs in the 4A classification across our great commonwealth. Paul Blazer High in Ashland is full of excellent athletes and the right men in place to lead them. Cameron Davis had a super junior year and may be a “Mr. Football” candidate in ’25 if he continues to improve along the same trajectory he has been improving. What can we tell you about Connor Miles? We can tell you he got three (3) games of run as a sophomore on the varsity. We can tell you he is putting in the work this offseason. We can tell you his coach tells us he is ready to assume a roll on the ’25 roster as a regular and (perhaps) a leader. We can tell you he may be a two-way guy this coming Fall. All of the above aside, Miles finished 5th in Kentucky in powerlifting at one of the sport’s toughest classes (220-pounds). We feel that says a ton (pardon the pun). Enjoy this feature about a kid you might not have know about prior.
