Speaking of making a home, when most people consider the contributions of Benjamin Galluzzi to the Jackets 9-2 football team, most of the memory highlights are associated with his play on the defensive side of the football, where the 5-9, 220 pounder has been a steady and productive producer all year long. Galluzzi caught a 13 yard TD reception against Montgomery Central to help the Jackets saddle the Indians with its only loss on the year; but c’mon, when you think of Galluzzi you think of sacks, tackles for loss, QB pressures and the like more so than his contributions on offense. I am sure Coach Wilson would take issue with that characterization, as would the running backs whom have had Galluzzi lead their way into and through holes this season. No one other than they appreciate any more Galluzzi’s willingness to use his compact, battering ram of a FB build to labor for the benefit of those whose path he is charged with clearing.

Friday night, in the Jackets’ first round win against Chester County, 47-12, QB Bryan Hayes, who threw five TD passes (2 to Dayron Fat Cat Johnson, and 1 to Galluzzi, Colton Wachter, and Cory Bigsbee each), decided to reward Galluzzi with a scoring toss. The defense, with Galluzzi’s efforts on that side of the ball was also particularly stout allowing Chester County only 169 yards of total offense and limiting them to 12 points. KPGFootball would also like to specially mention end Montrell Baker who contributed a couple of QB sacks on the evening and whose play is equally worthy of this type of recognition. This next Friday night Springfield will host Jackson South Side, themselves coming off a first round 16-14 win over Creekwood.

Congratulations, to Benjamin Galluzzi for being selected this week’s Stewart Williams Furniture Company’s Robertson County Player of the Week. Join us next week as we anoint a new recipient.
