At Independence Bank we celebrate the uncelebrated sometimes and, curiously, no other position in football is more overlooked that the guy who gets assigned the placekicking duties. Much like a closer in baseball, the place kicker has it all on the line before his number is called oftentimes. Today we celebrate a player who has added placekicking to his regular duties on the Central football team. Okay, Central wanted to win Friday night and wanted to knot its regular season record at 5-5 instead of the 4-6 finish it has experienced. All of that is true. However, there is a component of “next year” in every football program and a constant forward progression which must occur. There are lots of things to which to look forward if you are a Storm-watcher. One of those is the brilliant and composed play of its very young, freshman QB and heir-apparent to the keys to a potent offensive attack. Enjoy the feature. HB.

Well, yesterday against Tinity began promisingly but we were sort of in like a lion and out like a lamb. Still, one could see that there is a very thin line from where Centre is as a program and where it is going. We need to eliminate mistakes and take better car of the football, but should we, one can easily see conference championships and NCAA runs in the program’s future.

Talk about coming out of nowhere; nobody had Central Hardin playing the way the Bruins have played this year in any preseason prediction we read. Still, Hobbs was coming off an All-State performance his junior year, so he is a known commodity. How has he performed this year?
