’26 versatile athlete ready to take the next step for his Golden Lions
Dalton Flannery is a good looking prospect. Flannery is 6’0,” weighs 200-ball park, and can play WR and TE on offense; OLB and DE on defense. Flannery even sports a 3.0 GPA. What needs to happen is he needs to get some senior, star level PT and show some of these programs out there of what he is capable. Hey, the season is here, time to “do it.”

Lancaster, KY: We have a high regard for Coach Crutchfield and his Golden Lions. For starters, Defensive Coordinator Jeff Hester is the best the game has ever known.

The second Coach Crutchfield had the sense to add Hester to the staff the program became infinitely more formidable. The team was 8-4 a season ago, lost to Louisville Central in round two of the KHSAA playoffs, and were a one possession margin in the opener and a field goal against Mercer County on October 25th away from 10-wins.
That ain’t your big brother’s Garrard County. The Golden Lions are for real.
To take the next step, Crutchfield and the gang need to continue to develop roster talent. They have a guy, headed for his senior campaign, who should be giving them both quality snaps and big plays this coming year.
We have yet to see Flannery’s best football

The candidate is Dalton Flannery. We have yet to see his best football. He is running out of Falls to show us.
The KHSAA statistics indicate he played in three (3) varsity games in ’24. Flannery is 6’0,” 190-200 pounder who has the versatility and athletic skill set to play WR and TE on offense and OLB and DE on the other side of the scrimmage line. Perhaps the best statistic is the most important one; his 3.0 GPA.
The Golden Lions are at the door, knocking for admission. Garrard County is ready to compete at a high level, perhaps even a championship level. The program will have to do a few things before leaving the “we’re a good football team” neighborhood to move into the “we compete for titles football team.”
First they have to keep their talent at Garrard County. Last year’s “Mr. Football,” Montavin Quisenberry (Boyle County, now at UK), started his career at Garrard and showed his prowess before moving to Boyle.
We wrote about “Q” after his freshman season at Garrard. Here is the link.
Secondly, the Golden Lions have to take athletes like Flannery and get them on the field and making contributions to the cause. You know, having athletes is just a step in the right direction. Plugging them in is equally important.
We like Flannery as a “Breakout” sensation here in ’25. We like the Golden Lions as a dark horse contender. Both of these entities look braced for a big year, at least from our vantage point.
Season’s here, time to find out!
