If you don’t know they play a little football in Bardstown, KY you have never read my book, “Kentucky’s All-Time HS FB Coaches and a Few More I Liked” nor have you heard of Garnis Martin. The Point is…they have been fielding quality football teams around Bardstown since they had a school named My Old Kentucky Home High. Bardstown is staring to look very formidable again this season as they have gotten off to a 3-0 start. The Tigers are being led by a combo RB,QB named Elijah Young and the 5’10, 190-pound sophomore is posting some all-time marks particularly passing the ball. Enjoy this look at a program flying under some radars but not for long!

Through the first two ’28 QB is strutting his stuff! Miles Hollon being a darn good QB is news to no-one. Hollon is ranked among the elite players at his position in his graduating class and that lofty opinion has existed in regard to Hollon since his leaving middle school […]

This usually is a pretty fun article. A few days ago we posted the “KPGFootball Scorecard.” On that document we memorialized the matchup and just who we believed would win and why. What we do in the scorecard is give you the solution. What we don’t do is demonstrate how we worked the problem. Thursdays, during the football season, we often publish an article which “shows our math.” If you read this article you will see why we picked the teams we picked to win and why we picked the teams we picked to lose. You may not agree and that is okay. We are wrong between 10-15% of the time. It makes for fine reading and generous discussion. Enjoy the article.

We are doing something a little different this year. We will highlight individual performances like last season but we also want to give fans a “scouting report” on some of the pivotal games. This week we look at the overall performance of the defense through the first two games. The team has played a 6A, talented roster in North Hardin, and a 5A finalist from a year ago in Pukaski County and has only surrendered 14-points all year long. As soon as we get the full thrust of the offense figured out and unpacked, this will make for one heck of a 2A ball club heading into the playoffs. Enjoy this look at the Eagle defense and “Go Eagles!”

Haden Wise brings something to the table programs desperately need, particularly programs competing at the 2A classification. Haden Wise has a very versatile skill set with a variety of talents which lend itself well to playing multiple sports. Wise was among the offensive leaders for the Falcons football team this past Friday night as he played QB out of necessity for his team in its first win of the season. Wise, who also plays baseball (3rd base and catcher) employs skills which lend naturally (and specifically) to playing football. Wise’s multi-faceted, athletic tool belt makes him more, not less, recruitable to colleges around the commonwealth. Enjoy this feature.
