Murray High had a tremendous signal caller in 2025 who has moved on to the Murray State Racers and will now play on Saturdays. Still, Melvin Cunningham has built an enviable program while at Murray High and his Tigers figure to be in the title chase again in 2026. Lots of big-bodies on that Tiger roster. Lots of athletes on that Tiger roster. There is even a transfer from Dresden, TN who comes to town well thought of, successful, and much ballyhooed for his prior on-field successes. HIs name should be familiar to you. It is Bruce Willis, the same as the Hollywood “leading man,” Bruce Willis. This guy is a load, plays QB, lists MLB as his defensive position (which should tell the reader something of his demeanor and disposition), and is equally dangerous breaking down defenses with his arm or his legs. The season is right around the corner and we are doing what we typically do every year. We are going through the classifications, 1A-6A, and breaking down how we see the coming year progressing. We study these type things, have analyzed coaching staffs, personnel changes, and other statistical data to arrive at an opinion which is far from a guess. We continue on with our offseason coverage not really discussing players of the week so much as discussing featured players and prospects. Kenyon Cunningham is a kid with a ton athletic ability and potential who was put in a very tough spot for any freshman both in the semi-state and then in the championship game. He will be called on to be “The Man” going forward as senior Wyatt Robbins has exhausted his eligibility and is headed to play football for the Murray State Racers. Cunningham is a ranked basketball prospect in the commonwealth among ’29s and is already enjoying success as a varsity basketball player on a 12-2 ball club. Cunningham is the kind of kid coaches want to coach and, in the end, that may be the finest compliment which can be paid to him. Enjoy the feature.

The Bank of Cadiz is very proud of its former in-season, Players of the Week who also made one of Kentucky’s more prestigious All-State Football teams. The Big Ass Fans team, which has a small school and large school component is the most thorough and well defended all state football team in the KHSAA. This validates our PoW selections. We will start out this all-state team with an admonition with which we begin every team we have ever published. We will miss on some guys. It is just important to note that your son not making out team doesn’t mean he wasn’t an all-state caliber player. Also, we expressly reserve the right to re-enter the team, even after it is published, and add worthy players who may have been missed or accidentally omitted. That being said, our small and large school All-State football teams, sponsored by Big Ass Fans, are the most expansive and complete teams in the business. This team here, and the coaches’s team published by the Courier Journal, are the only two legitimate teams in existence and we believe our team to be much more complete and legitimate than even theirs. Congratulations to the players who made the team and congratulations to the wonderful world of Kentucky high school football for providing us with the endless thrills and discussions we net from our following this, the greatest game on earth.

The Storm will close with Murray High (7-0), and then Crittenden County (4-3). It would be nice to slip on Murray and catch them looking ahead to 6-2 Caldwell, but hard to count on that. Regardless, you have to take teams one at a time. Murray High team presents an opportunity to play an opponent who may out-talent us a bit but who can have a bad night as easily as the next guy. We need this game and are hoping our seniors can rise up and deliver it. Let’s get ready to car-pool to Murray, KY and cheer our boys onto victory. First read this…it will get you prepared for the road ahead.

The Murray High Tigers have transformed under Head Coach Melvin Cunningham into a real Western Kentucky terror regardless of how large of an enrollment you may have at your disposal. The 3A juggernaut has just outlasted a 59-56 game against McCracken County and one of Kentucky’s more explosive offensive ball clubs. Wyatt Robbins (’26) is putting up “Gameboy” type numbers this season and Friday night was no different. His efforts, and the efforts of his teammates, have the Tigers sitting at 6-0 with four “winnable” games ahead. Enjoy this feature on this wonderfully gifted and talented young football star.
