Jayon Bass has a frame to die for at 6’3,” 170-pounds. As an 11-pts. a game scorer averaging 6.4 rebounds a night, football isn’t the only game Bass can play. Bass can play anything because he is that guy, he is that type athlete. Bass was a star for his Tiger team a season ago who played sparingly on offense but was among the team’s very best defenders. Will he pull two-way duty when the rosters merge? I suppose we shall see. Congratulations to Jayon Bass for being our ‘Wake Up and Smell the Coffee (or Tea)’ Player of the Week from Lasaters Coffee & Tea where you are more than served, you are loved!

Jason Dernocoeur is a guy who has loads of promise and appears prepared to do lots of work to develop into the type player he wants to be. He is built like an interior offensive lineman, wears the number of a guard or center, but will probably have to pull “double duty” through much of his high school career. This young guys has shown he has what it takes to get it done. The Kelleys have generously bought some tickets, at $10 per, for worthy high school kids in need of support to get to see the last game the Hoptown Tigers will ever play in Hopkinsville, KY. When we say “some tickets,” we’re talking 500 of them. For all the years I have known this couple and Steven in particular (51-years), that is just “The Kelleys.” Kind, faithful, Christian, generous; who would have thought I would come to admire so steadfastly the six year old kid who mowed me down at home plate in a pee-wee league, underhand pitch, baseball game in 1974. Who would have thought it in deed. Enjoy the article!
