Often times you can tell a lot about one legend with how well or poorly he fairs against another legend or legends. For Allan Cox, he owned a 7-3 record against Jack Morris and “Mighty Mayfield” in 10-appearances against him as the head football coach of “The Blue Tornado.” That is really remarkable. Cox posted 106-wins over an 11-season run with five trips to the title game, winning the whole enchilada in 1985. On top of all of that, Coach Cox was a war hero in Vietnam, returning home with his entire platoon alive and being awarded “The Bronze Star” with a “V” device for valor in combat. This guy was a football coach’s, football coach. Enjoy the feature.

Slow Motion Replay: Dan Haley had the Midas Touch! @pths_football, @bryanstationfb, @PurplesFootball, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans

Dan Haley finished his career with an overall record of 253-79-3 with stints as the head football coach at Bryan Station in Lexington, Paducah Tilghman, and Bowling Green Senior High. Haley did something else rather singular, he took every program he ever coached to the title game, winning titles in ’73 at Tilghman and ’95 at Bowling Green. His ’95 title likely stands alone as he won that title over Fort Thomas Highlands, and its enigmatic and brilliant head coaching legend, Dale Mueller (28-12). Haley won four COY’s in four (4) different decades and was enshrined in the Dawahares, KHSAA Hall of Fame in 2007. Enjoy this look at one of the finest coaches the sport has known, a guy with a real “Midas Touch.”

Paducah Tilghman is loaded with athletes. With Kentucky’s top-rated Track & Field program, they are also loaded with speed. D.J. Wilson is one of the class of ’26’s top guys in the offensive backfield. Already a thousand yard rusher in his sophomore season, Paducah fans are excited about what this young man may develop into being. We think he is headed for a position among the more recruited athletes in his graduating class. Enjoy the feature. Friday Night Fletch.

It isn’t uncommon for players to play high school football for their dads. Matter of fact, 1956 Heisman, runner-up, and College Football Hall of Famer, Johnny “The Drum” Majors, played for his dad in high school (Shirley Majors) at Huntland High. Often, as was the case in the Majors’s situation, the son is the dad’s very best player. Mike Marksbury has done a wonderful job at Spencer County. One has to wonder how much his son, Kellen, has done to further dad’s coaching career. Enjoy the feature. Friday Night Fletch
