It is that time of year. We are all coming out of the “Dead Period” and we want to know how our hometown, high school football team is likely to fare in the coming season? We have taken an in-depth look into one of our favorite teams, Hopkins County Central, and have attempted to forecast that very thing. Enjoy this breakdown of the Storm’s team and upcoming season. It is easy to get caught up in the Markezz Hightower fan fare. Hightower is a fantastic ball player, an all state running-back, and coming off a near 1,800- total yards season with 21-TDs scored running and receiving. That aside, Hightower isn’t running a one-man band over there at North. Jayden Travis is a hulking TE with good speed, excellent power numbers, a fine GPA, and a 280-pound power clean evidencing tremendous explosion. Travis is coming off a 25-reception season himself and that is darn-fine playing on a run first team at the TE slot. This guy will field some offers in short order. If he has the kind of season in ’25 he had in ’24, look out 5A because the Maroons will be looking to improve drastically over the 7-4 it posted in ’24. Enjoy this feature and don’t forget to pick up some world famous jerky products from Mingua Beef Jerky and “SavorTheFlavor.”

It is that time of year. It is time to start figuring which teams, entering the ’25 season, figure to factor in the title chase. We have detailed what we think here and it is based on our study of the incoming, ’25 rosters, what players return, what players graduated, and other various factors we have perfected through the years to render such predictions. We plan to do this for all of Kentucky’s six (6) classifications and there is no guarantee we will go in order from the top down, or the bottom to the top. There are good football teams in the KHSAA and there are bad ones and those teams span all of the six classes. Enjoy today’s look at 5A. Keep checking back as we may drop another class any time we feel like it.

Storm Warning: Look out North-Hopkins, you may be in for inclement weather

The Storm have a huge mountain to climb Friday night as it travels to Badgett Stadium, cross town, to play a red hot Maroons team from North-Hopkins. North is 2-0 and ranked the 22nd best football team in Kentucky regardless of classification. We’re not sure there has ever been a Maroon’s team more highly regarded. We will break down this matchup and some of the personnel which will factor into the outcome. Enjoy the feature.

Marquezz Hightower is following in some mighty large footsteps. He had a relative who was an all-state football player for Madisonville North-Hopkins, led Kentucky in rushing yards his senior year, was a Kentucky Future Star MVP (like Marquezz), and went on to play for EKU. What will Marquezz do? Well, we don’t exactly know for sure but, for right now, he is running the heck out of that pill for the Maroons. Enjoy the feature. HB.
