Storm Warning: Hopkins County Central lost a game to lightening, Mid-point Report Card, Russellville begins second half

Like we have done in prior seasons, now the games are finally here, we will take the last week’s action and break it down and then look at the road ahead. We got an unexpected off week when lightening precluded our playing Kentucky Country Day in a game which will not be rescheduled. We have a winnable game on the road tomorrow night against a team with tradition, second to none on this end of the commonwealth. Russellville High School is struggling this year (0-5) but this program played for the 1A title just a few short years ago (2021) and has won three titles (1980, ’83, and ’90) while playing for four (4) more (1964, ’66, ’87, and 2021) Enjoy this feature and get out to the games this weekend. We had quite the successful road trip to Elkton, KY this past Friday night and North Hopkins visiting Morton’s Gap means the sledding will get much harder; certainly not any easier. North arrives with an enviable roster which includes plenty of All-State caliber players and even a Mr. Football frontrunner if your math is correct. We had quite the battle with Caldwell at home this past Friday night and the game turned on two fumble recoveries and a KO return for a TD comprising the 11-point difference between the two equally matched teams. We don’t even know what to say about the Storm after its impressive “beat down” of Webster County, 29-0. Manning made some changes to the deployment of personnel both on offense and defense to put kids in better positions to succeed and succeed they did. Tonight, the Storm will travel to Dixon, KY to take on an always tough, McLean County team. How do the Storm finish the final four of the regular season? Seems like we have been here before.

Hopkins Central got off to a rocky start here in ’24. The same can be said of Fort Campbells opening loss to Clarksville NE. These two teams meet on Friday night and they both badly need to come out on top. We like Central in this contest, but they can’t make the same mistakes made against Caldwell or the result will be similar. Enjoy the feature.

Jeremiah Groves is a guy who couldn’t be framed out much better. He is 6’3,” north of 200-pounds, and has a versatile skill set which has lent itself well to his contributing to the team in a variety of ways. Groves scored a TD receiving, logged a “scoop and score,” was among the team leaders in tackles and sacks.
