Mark Peach is a high school coach who has met with considerable success along his career path. We have Peach with around 166-wins against 97-losses. We have him winning his region four (4) times and appearing in the state championship game twice, once at Hancock County in 1A (1999) and a second time at Anderson County in 5A (2011). Peach’s teams enjoyed a pair of undefeated regular seasons over his tenure. In addition, Peach developed and promoted a player, in Travis Atwell, into the coveted “Mr. Football” award and an appearance in the 1A title game after turning in a 12-3 mark and losing to Beechwood for the title. The third phase of football is often overlooked. I was watching the BYU/Colorado bowl game last week and BYU rode a third phase clinic to a 20-0 halftime lead and an eventual victory over a favored foe. The third phase can do that for you. The Hornets’ performance has really shocked some people around the Western Kentucky football world. Independence Bank has been quick to notice the outstanding play from Hancock County High School and the Hawesville, Kentucky brand of Independence Bank located at 225 US 60E has been wearing us out around the magazine about when we were going to feature some of the area outstanding football talent. Okay guys, we hear you! Jack Duncan maybe one of the best defensive players at his level in his area of the commonwealth. He, for darn sure, may be among the more underrated. Noah Mize is a guy opponents better not sleep on in ’21. This guy figures to be more of a factor this coming fall offensively for the Hornets and was plenty productive in the defensive backfield in ’20.
