Kylan Combs from Breathitt has taken the long way home @combs_kory, @Elithomas1219, @BreathittFb, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @bigassfans, @eCampusdotcom

Among my favorite groups in the seventies was the group “Supertramp.” They had a wonderful song entitled, “Take the Long Way Home” released in 1979. Kylan Combs knows all about taking the long way to anywhere. Combs’s home is on a football field, positioned at safety, or anywhere on a gridiron actually. You see, Kylan Combs is a “Combs.” In the Appalachias, you don’t have to say any more. We fully understand the level of citizenship that surname requires and signifies and the football playing effort and talent associated with that particular family throughout the region. Kylan Combs has taken the long way home to stardom in Breathitt’s defensive third level once again and has made another of our Small School All-State Football Teams (Big Ass Fans) and we are mighty glad to welcome him home. Enjoy the article.

Storm Warning: If this is the ‘Swan Song’ on this serial article; it has been quite the ride…a look ahead! @HopkinsCentral @minguabeefjerky @840WHAS @PrepRedzone @KyHighFootball

We have had the privilege of covering the Hopkins County Central Storm for several seasons. We have reveled in the highs and commiserated through the lows. Through it all we have developed a deep appreciation and love for the Storm football program and all that it means to the citizens of Hopkins County, particularly Morton’s Gap. Morton’s Gap is a special place on a Friday Night as fans are treated to a Rockwellian, small-town, football experience. If this article has run its course, if it is over, then let the record reflect it has been our immense pleasure, our distinct honor.

McNary is Kentucky’s consummate FB. He is the best player, Kentucky-wide, at a position under utilized in the modern game. He is a throw-back to a simpler, tougher time and he keeps the “Air Raid” attack grounded. Enjoy the feature. FL.

We just had the semi-state last night and look forward to all convening in Lexington, at Kroger Field, next weekend for the crowning of champions. There are some fine teams out there who will be in street clothes, and not uniforms, for the games next weekend. Perhaps, among the most […]

Jayden Travis, TE, from Madisonville-North Hopkins offered by Lindsey Wilson FB and is the Kentucky Comfort Creator of the Week; @LWUfootball, @Maroon_FB_MNHHS, @eCampusdotcom, @Ale8One, @bigassfans, @KyHighFootball, @khsaafootball

Jayden Travis was among our top TEs in the commonwealth of Kentucky at the KHSAA level. We said it all year and this week it was proven by a coaching staff which is certainly in a position to know such things. Lindsay Wilson, a Mid-South Conference and NAIA powerhouse offered a “full ride” to the ’27 TE and member of the 2026 graduation class. We don’t know what he is going to do yet, but thought it certainly was worth winning a Big Ass Fans Kentucky Comfort Creator Award. Enjoy this serial article awarding the Big Ass Fans “Kentucky Comfort Creator” to the big-bodied, athletic superstar.

James Bradley, Jr., and his Hoptown Tigers took the home field for the final time this past Friday night for the first round of the KHSAA, 6A, football playoffs. The Tigers rolled to a 50-20 gut punch to the Daviess County Panthers. Along the way, Bradley rushed for 223-yards on 20-carries, five (5) of which went for scores. What a game this kid had. Bradley scored 36-points on the night (5-TDs, and 3-two point conversions). Bradley even threw in three (3) tackles on defense. Enjoy this feature on this wonderfully gifted and talented young football star from your friends and neighbors at the Bank of Cadiz.

The Kelleys have generously bought some tickets, at $10 per, for worthy high school kids in need of support to get to see the last game the Hoptown Tigers will ever play in Hopkinsville, KY. When we say “some tickets,” we’re talking 500 of them. For all the years I have known this couple and Steven in particular (51-years), that is just “The Kelleys.” Kind, faithful, Christian, generous; who would have thought I would come to admire so steadfastly the six year old kid who mowed me down at home plate in a pee-wee league, underhand pitch, baseball game in 1974. Who would have thought it in deed. Enjoy the article!
